Position Summary

This role is within the Fluid Systems Division and provides technical expertise and leadership in an engineering discipline, product, or systems field. Researches and carries out complex engineering assignments that result in the introduction of new technologies, products, or processes. Contributes to and has responsibility for the completion of significant assignments with broad product, technology, customer, and strategic business impact. Develops and recommends solutions to unique technical challenges.

This Electrical Engineering role d evelops complex electronic conceptual and detailed Analog and Digital designs by analyzing product performance and customer requirements. Performs diverse and complex product development, modification, and evaluation of components, subsystems, and systems by applying engineering principles.

Responsibilities

  • Provides expert technical advice and recommendations, leads internal and customer design reviews, and proposes methodology for problem ‐ solving and analysis on complex design or customer issues. Researches and develops technology with an R&D and product development focus.

  • Provides expert technical information concerning manufacturing or processing techniques, materials, properties, and process advantages and limitations which affect long range plant and product engineering planning by carefully analyzing and applying advanced engineering and scientific concepts.

  • Communicates and coordinates with other technical resources to provide recommendations, lessons learned, methods for problem ‐ solving, analysis methodology, etc. to maximize contribution to multiple projects or programs.

  • Makes technical proposals and presentations to various internal and customer groups to influence business decisions. Maintains and takes steps to protect company intellectual property.

  • Conducts analysis and/or tests pertaining to the development of new designs, methods, materials, equipment or processes and completes required documentation by determining required actions, performing or directing completion of tasks and publishing findings and/or results.

  • Compiles and analyzes operation, test, and research data to establish performance standards for newly designed or modified products or systems. Assesses the feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering evaluation tests, products, or equipment when necessary data are insufficient or conformation by testing is advisable.

  • Investigates, researches, and operationalizes new technologies in specialty or related areas to improve cost and performance by applying advanced engineering design methods, theories, and research techniques.

  • Maintains advanced level of professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications, benchmarking best practices, and/or participating in professional associations.

  • Acts as consultant to management on technical and project ‐ related matters. Serves as a functional expert. Identifies mentoring and development needs; serves as a mentor for other employees.

    Essential Functions

  • Develops complex conceptual and detailed Analog and Digital designs by analyzing product performance and customer requirements. Performs diverse and complex product development, modification, and evaluation of components, subsystems, and systems by applying engineering principles and developing new or unique analysis tools as required.

  • Experience with Microprocessor’s, Micro Controllers based designs which include RAM, FLASH, ADC’s DAC’s, Supervisory IC’s, Op-Amps/Signal Processing, Comparators, Serial Interfaces such as I2C, SPI, CAN, ARINC-429, Discrete Input/Ouput interfaces, etc

  • Experience with requirement based designs and using tools such as DOORS a plus.

  • Experience utilizing industry standard schematic entry tools such Dx Designer

  • Capable of debug and support of new designs, production builds and or field related issues.

  • Familiar with Root Cause Investigation tools.

  • Supports product throughout the life cycle of development, including developing test procedures that ensure proper implementation of requirements.

  • Prepares for and conducts design reviews and various milestones throughout the product life cycle

  • Experience in aerospace standards, DO-160, DO-254, ARP-4754, IS-25.981

  • This candidate will support the Hauppauge, NY facility from their remote Parker location in Cary, NC.

  • Compensation is based on a variety of factors, candidate experience, qualifications, location as well as market and business considerations. Please note that the following salary range information is only applicable for North Carolina. Pay Range: $99,630 to $174,406

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree (BS) in Electrical Engineering; Masters degree (MS) preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through 10-12 years of relevant design experience

  • Excellent communication skills are essential

  • Experience with analog and digital circuit design, with emphasis on analog design. Experience in power supplies and high power preferred.

  • Experience in compliance to Aerospace or Military industry standards preferred

  • Proficient with development tools for electronic design such as DxDesigner, Alegro

  • Proficient with design verification tools such as pspice.

  • Proficient with support tools such as Matlab, Word, Excel, and Vizio

  • Proficient with specialized data analysis, and engineering design tools.

  • Ability to establish and track performance to goals and objectives to complete complex or major projects and provide direction to the team at project milestones.

  • Ability to apply and integrate knowledge of other related engineering areas or experts to own area of expertise.

  • Ability to respond to significant inquiries from customers, regulatory agencies, or other internal teams.

  • Proficient with standard project management tools and practices
