MetLife Lead Database Engineer in Cary, North Carolina
Duties: Perform requirement gathering and convert business requirements to functional requirements with detailed transformation rules for data engineering. Work with business/data scientists to translate given business problems into analytical solution with defined outcomes. Collaborate with stakeholders, including technical leads, build team, project managers and business/operations teams to build data enablement solutions across different lines of business and use cases. Participate in driving the delivery of projects. Mentor business systems analysts within the team and/or organization.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS or Computer Engineering (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus 6 years of experience performing requirement gathering for data engineering. Specific skills/other requirements (quantitative experience requirement not applicable to this section unless otherwise stated) -- must possess the following: performing data analysis and data modeling and designing data lakes/hubs (2 years); writing SQLs and working with unstructured datasets using data exploratory tools for data analysis and profiling (4 years); writing functional requirements and high-level design documents (3 years); and writing validation scripts to validate data, data integrations and ETL transformations (3 years). Telecommute benefit: Hybrid - 3 days in office/2 days remote.
