Through personal leadership, the Operations Manager – Projects and Installation ensures that a positive and productive working environment is created and maintained. This role provides continuous leadership and direction for improvement in the areas of safety, quality, service and cost through a ONE Southwire approach. The person will develop and direct strong Project Management and Installation teams and work effectively through them to ensure execution of projects meet and exceed customer expectations.

Description of Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drive a Culture of ZERO relating to Safety & Quality, throughout the HV Organization.

  • Develop and manage effective teams of project management and installation professionals

  • Assure Southwire commitments to customer are met in accordance with contract

  • Proactively plans, monitors and controls project activities to maximize margins

  • Coordinates and reviews work performed by Project Managers and Installation Technicians and mentor/coach teams accordingly

  • Works in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the projects scope and commitments are met

  • Develop new processes and programs as needed and where gaps exist

  • Ensure proper certification of all Project Managers and Installation Technicians are up-to-date and documented

  • Track HV Installation Department cash flow, budgets, spending etc.

  • Collect and maintain weekly timesheets, submit Payroll documentation and update allocated record of installation hours.

  • Participate in prebid meetings, specification reviews and installation estimating activities as they relate to developing project installation proposals, project management and project implementation aspects of a project.

  • Review and approve all project management and installation costs quoted in customer tenders

Qualifications and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equal combination of education/experience required.

  • 5+ years of experience leading skilled trades professionals required.

  • Experience overseeing project-based work and budgets preferred.

  • Ability to work with projects of varying size, complexity and contractual types is necessary.

  • Knowledge of high voltage cable production and accessory installation procedures required.

  • A broad range of management skills is required with particular emphasis on leadership, supervision, motivation, communication and planning.

  • Must have excellent verbal and written skills along with exceptional interpersonal skills.

  • Knowledge of MS Word, MS Project, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Adept knowledge of SAP preferred ability to learn SAP quickly is a must.
