Job Summary
A certified healthcare employee who performs under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist to assist in the daily tasks of the Pharmacy operation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Processes and fills, for pharmacist verification, physician orders, outpatient, employee, interdepartmental and rural clinic orders and prescriptions.
• Prepackages medications; prepares extemporaneous doses.
• Receives and stores incoming supplies, verifying invoices against shipment and rectifying any discrepancies.
• Assures adequate inventory and supplies.
• Performs accurate and timely Automated Dispensing Machine (ADM) pulls and fills after pharmacist verification.
• Performs accurate and timely inpatient 24-hour IV piggyback fill.
• Performs accurate and timely monthly drug storage areas including pulling soon to expire medications.
• Assists in daily general clean up and maintenance of supplies.
• Maintains ADM inventory for each unit based on current patient population.
• Maintains and assists in cleanliness of department.
• Provides general assistance to Pharmacists.
• Accurately restocks EMS “crash” meds and assures availability of crash boxes.
• Attends all mandatory meetings and programs.
• Performs other duties as necessary or assigned.
• Complies with the Corporate Compliance Policy and all laws, regulations, and Standards of Conduct relating to the position and agrees to report any suspected violations of law or Standards of Conduct.
• Complies with all applicable state and federal regulations.
• Maintains a safe work environment using safe work practices, utilizing standard precautions and complying with hazardous waste procedures at all times as described in St. Anthony's Safety Manual.
• Maintains the confidentiality of patient, resident, employee and organizational information.

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or equivalent combination of education. Certified Pharmacy Technician exam must be passed within one year of hire.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, patients, families and other employees or the organization.
