The Salvation Army Program Aide, Bridging the Gap in Carnegie, Pennsylvania

*Job Summary: *

The Bridging the Gap (BTG) aide provides clerical support of the BTG after-school & summer program for students. Their duties include helping students with program activities, handling administrative tasks, and interacting with students and parents.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist director in preparing materials for programs or projects by sorting, photocopying, stapling, etc.
  • Assist in the preparation of programs, classes, seminars and recreational activities.
  • Assist in providing general information regarding the program.
  • *Assist in preparing routine records and reports for programs. *
  • Assist in custodial duties including sweeping, dusting and emptying trash.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Skill in both verbal and written communication. 
  • Skill in basic office procedures.
  • Ability to work patiently with difficult and challenging participants who are at risk.
  • Knowledge of Juvenile/Adult Court System.
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
  • All three PA Clearances required upon employment and thereafter upon renewal date: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, Request for Criminal Record, and Fingerprint based federal criminal history.
  • PA Mandated and Permissive Reporting and The Salvation Army's KeepSafe training required.

Education and Experience:

  • Experience working with at risk youth
  • High School graduate
  • Some college preferred
  • Preferred, two to five years of experience in program planning and supervision.
  • Valid PA Driver's License
