Responsibilities
Please note: This position is a part-time (20 hours/week) position working 5:30am-4pm, days vary.*
This position will travel between various sites including, Mercy San Juan Hospital, Mercy General Hospital, Methodist Hospital and Mercy Folsom Hospital.*
Position Summary:
Under general direction and focusing on coordinating the operations for the physicians in the Hospital Medicine Department the Hospital Medicine Tech acts as lead person providing clerical support for hospital medicine operations at the assigned hospital location and regularly performs a variety of multifaceted duties which include:
Accurately and consistently provides oversight for and prepares Hospitalist census reports through daily tracking and coordination of patient flow within the Hospitalist Program including "hot lists."
Oversees the completion and reconciliation of the E-billing system and works with the Business Office to assure timely completion.
Provides central coordination of patient admissions and assignments to physicians.
Prepares and develops logs records schedules files and manuals; prepares and/or types a variety of reports charts graphs and other materials utilizing both manual and computer generated data with accuracy 95% of the time.
Facilitates patient/physician identification and tracking as well as education when needed as measured through feedback from physicians and managers.
Acts as liaison between the Hospitalist Program Hospital Medical Groups and Health Plans.
Maintains office organization including ordering supplies and keeping files current.
Collaborates with other support staff as needed.
Extracts data computer programs and various databases to prepare recurring or special reports meeting assigned deadlines 95% of the time.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
At least two (2) years of experience performing related duties with at least one (1) year working in a healthcare setting.
Associate degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the following knowledge skills and abilities listed under "Special Skills" may be considered.
Special Skills:
Knowledge: Demonstrable knowledge and experience with Health Insurance Medical Groups Billing and Medical Terminology. Solid understanding of business communications and relationships between Hospitalists with departments internal to the hospital such as HIM Patient Registration Emergency Inpatient Units and external entities such as the transfer center pharmacies funeral homes county health department. Applies sound critical thinking skills partnered with strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities. Verifiable experience of working independently with little supervision. Demonstrated Verifiable Skills: Established expertise in business office procedures correspondence and filing systems. Proven ability to apply good judgment in a variety of confidential and sensitive situations while handling multiple detail-oriented time-sensitive assignments. Plan and organize work making effective use of time and ensuring state-mandated deadlines are met. Proven ability to remain calm and flexible while prioritizing organizing and completing tasks in a busy sometimes chaotic work environment. Maintain extensive record-keeping systems and provide evidence of attention to detail. Evaluate situations accurately and take appropriate and effective action independent of direct oversight. Perform business and statistical mathematics to include arithmetic calculations. Reconcile reports and prepare adjustments. Prepare and type memos and correspondence using correct spelling grammar punctuation and proper business format. Communicate effectively by telephone in person and/or writing detailed program information as necessitated to physicians leadership coworkers and appropriate others. Able to work in a manner in order to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships. Maintain the confidentiality of patient/employee information. Demonstrated computer and proficient typing skills. Verifiable experience with Windows-based PCs word processing and database applications. Knowledge and proficiency in Google Workspace programs Video teleconferencing applications Cerner/Care Connect MS4 and Billing software. Ability to prepare a variety of reports collating both manual and computer information. Demonstrated ability and experience with accurate data entry sorting and filtering.
Preferred Qualifications:
Four (4) or more years experience performing related duties in a healthcare or acute care setting.
Prior training and experience working in a Hospitalist/Hospital Medicine Dept highly desired.

Pay Range
$27.54 - $31.73 /hour
