Regional Government Services Water Resources Technician for the Citrus Heights Water District in Carmel Valley, California

If so, the Citrus Heights Water District (CHWD) is looking for a Water Resources Technician to join their team!

Regional Government Services (RGS) and its staff are conducting the recruitment on behalf of the District.

The Position Individuals hired into this role willoperate the Districts water distribution, production, and treatment equipment ensuring water quality compliance during operations and maintenance activities, perform water quality and water operations tests, and provide technical support to an assigned supervisor.

About the Citrus Heights Water District

Founded in 1920, CHWD, an irrigation district operating under the State of California Water Code, is a leading independent water service provider. We take pride in continuing our work to deliver a safe, dependable, and healthy supply of water to our customers. CHWD provides drinking water to an estimated population of 67,000 customers via approximately 20,000 water service connections, made up of a service area consisting of 12.8 square miles within portions of Citrus Heights, Fair Oaks, Orangevale, Carmichael, and Roseville in the Greater Sacramento Region.

The CHWD has 38 full-time dedicated staff, over one-third of whom have post-secondary degrees, who operate and maintain a conjunctive use surface water and groundwater system. CHWD also has many value-added programs for its customers. CHWDs team focuses on providing high quality water and great customer service. The District operates under a governing body of three elected members on a Board of Directors with an appointed General Manager.

Typical Qualifications

Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Experience: Work experience in the field of water distribution systems or water treatment facility operations is desirable.

Education: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.

Licenses and Certifications: Driver License: Possession of a valid California Class C Driver License may be required at the time of appointment. Failure to obtain or maintain such required license(s) may be cause for disciplinary action. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a physical disability will be considered for accommodation on a case-by-case basis.

Possession and proof of a good driving record free from multiple or serious traffic violations or accidents for at least two (2) years duration is required. The driving record shall not contribute to an increase in the District's automobile insurance rates.

Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Grade D2 Water Distribution Operator certificate from the State of California Department of Public Health within one year of hire or promotion. Failure to maintain such required certification may be cause for disciplinary action.

Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Grade T1 Water Treatment Operator certificate from the State of California Department of Public Health within one year of hire or promotion. Failure to maintain such required certification may be cause for disciplinary action.

Possession of an AWWA Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester certification. Failure to maintain such required certification may be cause for disciplinary action.

Salary and Benefits

The starting salary and salary range will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and skills of the successful candidate.

$6,513.87 - $8,793.20 Monthly

A comprehensive benefits package includes:

Flexible 4/40 Work Schedule:District observes a 4/40 work schedule with all employees on a Monday through Thursday work schedule.

Retirement:The District offers CalPERS with Social Security. Benefit is 2% @ 55 for classic members and 2% @ 62 for new members as defined by PEPRA, subject to the limitations set by PERS. Employee pays the employee portion.

Deferred Compensation Plan:District offers optional enrollment in a pre-tax payroll-deducted 457 plan (MissionSquare Retirement formerly known as ICMA- RC), District offers 3% employer match based on annual limits established by the Internal Revenue Service.
