Overview

Carmel Valley Ranch is an active and fun golf facility with a thriving membership as well as resort play and outside guests. This is a great opportunity to be involved in a great community of staff and members at a fact paced club. The First Assistant Golf Professional is responsible for ensuring quality golf services to members and guests. He/she will also help overseeing daily golf operations and assists with supervision of the golf staff. They will also be directly responsible for overseeing and managing our outside service team. There will also be involvement in the administration of the tournament program. This is managing the event calendar and tee sheet along with building out and running the events in Golf Genius. This will include assisting with the booking and contracting of outside groups and tournaments. There is the possibility of being involved in golf instruction with this position, especially in assisting the Director of Instruction with member programming, and PGA Junior League.

The First Assistant Golf Professional is responsible for ensuring quality golf services to members and guests and providing individualized instruction. He/she is also responsible for overseeing daily golf operations and assists with supervision of the golf staff.

Essential Responsibilities

Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service-oriented manner

Maintain regular attendance in compliance with CVR standards, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel

Comply at all times with CVR standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient golf operations

Maintain a warm friendly demeanor at all times

Ensure that employees are at all times attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous to guests, managers and fellow employees

Provide professional golf instruction for members and guests as requested

Ensure the cleanliness and orderliness of the golf shop

Help maintain inventory and control of merchandise

Help oversee daily golf operations according to standards including opening and closing procedures, merchandise and golf sales, merchandise inventory, and control of play

Oversee, train, monitor, and evaluate golf personnel

Perform minor equipment repair as needed

Provide CPR/First Aid as necessary

Attend meetings and training as required by management

Perform other duties as assigned by management

Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly

Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately

Must work well in stressful, high pressure situations

Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure

Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary

Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the issues raised by co-workers and guests

Must have the ability to assimilate complex information, data, etc., from disparate sources and consider, adjust or modify to meet the constraints of the particular need.

Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic functions.

Flexible and longer hours sometimes required as well as weekends.

Medium work – Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

Qualifications:

  • · High School diploma or equivalent required

  • · At least 3 years of progressive experience on a golf course or a related field required

  • · PGA Second Level membership required

  • · Previous supervisory experience required

  • · Must have valid driver's license for the applicable state

  • Active PGA Member or Level 2 PGA Associate in good standing.

  • A knowledge of the fundamentals for running Golf Genius a plus.

Annual Salary range from $74,000.00 to $79,000.00
