Adecco is supporting a local client for HVAC Tech in Bergen County. Apply if you meet qualifications below.

This role involves performing advanced technical tasks related to the inspection, installation, repair, and maintenance of commercial and industrial heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration systems, and other related machinery and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. System Installation and Maintenance: Install, operate, and maintain HVAC and energy systems; perform routine preventive maintenance checks on refrigeration units, heating systems, and air conditioning equipment (both gas and electric), making necessary adjustments or repairs as needed.

  2. Equipment Inspection and Repair: Inspect, repair, modify, and install HVAC equipment, including refrigeration units, compressors, condensers, chillers, forced-air units, pumps, valves, and expansion tubes.

  3. Component Replacement: Repair or replace malfunctioning components and controls, including thermostats, electronic controllers, switches, fan controls, motors, filters, belts, compressors, and heat exchangers.

  4. Boiler Operation: Monitor boiler operations by reading gauges and meters, adjusting burner combustion settings as needed.

  5. Lubrication and Maintenance: Lubricate and service motors, pumps, fans, and other HVAC equipment.

  6. Piping and Tubing Work: Install and repair copper piping and tubing; insulate and test joints for refrigeration and air conditioning systems, and perform cutting and threading of pipes.

  7. Furnace and Gas Systems Maintenance: Repair and maintain furnace controls, filters, and condensing units; detect and repair leaks; replace thermocouples and generators; clean and adjust pilot lights.

  8. Tool and Equipment Handling: Utilize various hand and power tools and specialized test equipment; ensure equipment is maintained in safe working condition.

  9. Troubleshooting and Diagnostics: Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues; repair or replace faulty components.

  10. Equipment Installation and Repair: Install, rebuild, or repair fans, motors, thermostats, valves, gaskets, and related equipment as required.

  11. Work Order Management: Receive work orders, prepare project cost estimates, and procure materials following established guidelines.

  12. Compliance and Safety: Ensure adherence to relevant building codes and safety regulations; follow all prescribed safety protocols and procedures.

  13. Technical Drawings and Specifications: Interpret and work from sketches, blueprints, plans, and technical specifications.

Qualifications

Experience and Education:

• A combination of relevant experience and training that demonstrates the required knowledge and skills.

• Typically, 3-5 years of experience in HVAC and refrigeration.

• Completion of high school or GED is required; military service experience is highly valued.

Licenses/Certificates:

• Must possess or be able to obtain a valid driver’s license by the time of appointment.

• A current EPA Refrigeration license is required.

• HVAC certification from an accredited institution is also required.

Knowledge Areas:

• Core principles, methods, and tools involved in HVAC and energy system installation and maintenance.

• Materials, methods, and tools used for HVAC system operation and repair.

• Web-based building control systems and air compressor operations.

• Techniques such as brazing, soldering, and pipefitting.

• Health and safety regulations and basic record-keeping.

• Proper storage methods for equipment, materials, and supplies.

Pay Details: $50.00 to $55.00 per hour
