the employee will first start working in the manual assembly department, putting spools together that contain the base part for quidel's diagnostic strip. they will start working in that station for the first 2-3 weeks and then another week or two after to truly master that part of the manufacturing process. after that they will move to the spool manufacturing room. in this room they will monitor the automated assembly of the strips to be prepared for the final assembly. they will calibrate the automated assembly process. they will follow a very specific document that tells them how to set up and calibrate every part of the process. they will be required to do basic addition and subtraction.

the key attributes to success are curiosity in the job and willingness to ask questions during manufacturing, employees also need to be constantly paying attention to the process. if their is an issue it will be their responsibility to ensure the problem is resolved and/or their lead is notified. they will also need to pay attention to completion of the report, hand writing will have to be legible and they should be reviewing the report while the machine is running.
