JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Dickinson Law seeks an early or mid-career staff member to join their library in a key role, Access Services Manager (Library Operations Supervisor).

This is a Term appointment funded for 12 months from the date of hire with the possibility of refunding. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.

Core duties of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Provides front-line circulation assistance to law students, faculty and administrators, and members of the public. This may be in-person, or via email or phone.

  • Hires, trains, and supervises student workers for the library. Serves as their emergency contact during evening and weekend shifts.

  • Assists faculty and members of the Dickinson Law Review with obtaining material for scholarly and/or instructional needs.

  • Assists in establishing and refining policies and procedures regarding circulation and access.

  • Coordinates with Access Services and Interlibrary Loan departments at Penn State University Libraries. Assists our library’s patrons in obtaining those services as needed.

  • Provides and posts content to the library’s blog in collaboration with colleagues.

  • Serves on committees as assigned.

  • Reports to the Director of the Law Library who may assign additional tasks or functions as needed.

Qualifications include:

  • B.A. degree and 6+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

  • M.L.S. or equivalent from an A.L.A. accredited library school is preferred, but substantial experience may be substituted. Current M.L.S. students may also apply.

  • A strong commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion.

  • Experience using research databases and resources.

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience supervising others is preferred.

$46,400.00 - $67,300.00
