AIG Sr. EIL Underwriter in Capelle aan den IJssel, Netherlands

About the role The Sr EIL underwriter is responsible for management and growth of the portfolio in the Netherlands and Belgium reporting to the Liabilities Manager and the Regional Environmental Casualty Manager. The underwriter will manage negotiations for Pollution Legal Liability, Contractor Pollution Liability, and Environmental Consultants Errors and Omissions products. Key aspects of the role include broker and client development, technical underwriting, negotiations, and reporting results to management. Sales/Negotiations & Managing relationships The EIL underwriter is responsible for driving business development and supporting client relationships, including:• Development of the AIG business in the Dutch and Belgian market;• Develop strong, long term relationships with external stakeholders• Deliver agreed internal and external Service Level Agreements/requirements. • Communicate AIG Risk Appetite and Value Proposition to partner brokers/clients• Represent AIG in local professional associations• Identify target accounts/list, develop & execute marketing & development plans, design market segment in corporation with other departments• Establish close relationship with key clients• Development of new products• Develop internal cross marketing• Underwriting analysis (e.g. assessment of the environmental risk, apply underwriting judgment to pricing model results to generate a target price, suggest coverage terms/conditions and structure options for quoting, and negotiating on new business and renewals, negotiate terms and conditions with clients and brokers, Obtain additional UW information from brokers/clients as may be required on each new or renewal submission …)• Ensure technical price, deal structure and suggested coverage terms/conditions adhere to Underwriting Guidelines.• Draft risk summary reports and refer the risk to the manager when appropriate• Perform site visits/client meetings• Draft and issue premium indications and insurance policies• Follow-up, involving changes in the policy, inclusion of new sites or countries, changes in the value of the assured properties, feed-back after a claim, interpretation of contract clauses, renewals, follow-up with accounting, etc. Financials, budget & reporting The EIL underwriter is responsible for developing and monitoring revenue budget projections, and expenses.• Accountability for Profit & Loss for his segment• Local & regional reporting• Assist for budget process• Manage audits & compliance• Implement guidelines, service level agreements and quality standards• Review processes (e.g. standardization policies, …)

Our ideal candidate: Experience & Qualifications Required:• Degree within an Environmental subject. Post graduate qualification would be advantageous;• Relevant experience working for an Environmental consultancy business, or equivalent, in the areas of contaminated land, remediation and/ or due diligence;• Strong knowledge of Dutch Environmental legislation and ideally experience of European or Rest of the World practices;• Proficient in terms of: Ø Analytical skills of numeric data and ability to interpret Ø Sales, negotiation and presentation skills – written and verbal. Ø Conveying technical environmental information to a non-technical audience• Proven ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships internally and externally;• Highly motivated, professional and results driven;• Ability to work in dynamic and fast pace environment, adapt to changing requirements and collaborate with a wide range of colleagues to deliver solutions;• Comfort with analytical tools and technology;• Willingness to be flexible, learn on the job, and maintain a can-do attitude;• Awareness of developments and trends in the Commercial Insurance sector relating to Environmental would be a plus.
