About the role

This is a full-time fixed term contract managerial role to manage the delivery of paralegal resource to our UK Practical Guidance team.

Responsibilities

  • To manage, train, develop and motivate a team of Paralegals

  • To manage the smooth-running of our LexisAsk service

  • To manage the delivery of our current awareness service across Practical Guidance and Research To support the Practical Guidance teams with core content creation and maintenance

  • To identify and deliver opportunities for improvement and operational excellence

  • Shape and define individual and collective responsibilities within the team in line with department and personal objectives

  • Effectively monitor performance of the team

  • Operational effectiveness experience desired

LexisAsk

Manage a team carrying out legal research and drafting answers to LexisAsk questions. Help to respond to LexisAsk queries by:

  • Conducting legal research and liaising with subject matter experts within the Practical Guidance practice area teams, and

  • Drafting replies to queries from customers within a specified response time

  • Contribute to a bank of ’Q&A’ documents across our suite of Lexis+ content, adhering to the defined style guidelines

  • Work on initiatives and processes to help develop the smooth running of the LexisAsk service in order to increase efficiency in the delivery of ‘live’ LexisAsk answers and ‘Q&A’ content

Current awareness

  • Manage a team delivering our current awareness service to our products Contribute to and ensure all news items are written to a high standard, edited and checked for accuracy, grammar, punctuation, clarity, flow, style and news value check and proof content before publication, address and resolve publishing issues and make recommendations for process improvements support the development and implementation of initiatives to grow and improve the current awareness offering

Practical Guidance content

  • Manage a team supporting the Practical Guidance teams and contribute to content creation and maintenance (eg practice notes, precedents, timelines, trackers, checklists, flowcharts and Q&As) Work closely with the Practical Guidance teams and the Commissioning team to commission and draft practical guidance. This work will include:

  • Reviewing new and existing content for quality and legal accuracy

  • Drafting practical guidance content

  • Collaborating with external authors regarding externally-written content

  • Attending practice area team meetings to ensure priorities are understood and can be communicated to the paralegal team

  • Effectively triage and delegate content tasks from the Practical Guidance teams across the paralegal team ensuring tasks are dealt with effectively and efficiently

Best practice and continuous improvement

  • Contribute to and implement best practice and continuous improvement initiatives across the team and provide training/advice to other teams as required

  • Support the Head of the PSL Hub in identifying and delivering opportunities for process efficiency

  • Think independently and drive innovation in technical solutions within our product teams, to ensure that we are delivering guidance, current awareness and LexisAsk in the most efficient way possible

  • Encourage team members to take an active role in continuous improvement projects and efficiency initiatives

Requirements:

  • Previous managerial experience essential

  • Demonstrate experience in using a data-driven approach to solve problems and deliver effective solutions

  • Previous paralegal experience or equivalent desirable

  • Demonstrate experience in managing multiple stakeholders

  • Have excellent communication skills and the ability to present complex information to a variety of audiences.

  • Ability to present face-to-face and on online platforms

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, constantly evolving and rapidly growing product sales environment
