Lockheed Martin Space in Cape Canaveral, FL is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer Intern for Summer 2025. In this role, you will work with experienced engineers, research, plan, design, and develop mechanical and structural components, assemblies, and systems for instruments, payloads, engines, and mechanical, structural, and thermal systems for Lockheed Martin. You will also have an opportunity to support multiple engineering support teams across the department. The successful candidate will have familiarization with Computer-aided Design (CAD) software, Mechanics and Materials or similar completed course work, and experience with digital transformation. Must be a US Citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.

Basic Qualifications:

- Actively enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or other STEM related degree program from an accredited college/university.

- Familiarization with Computer-aided Design (CAD) software

- Mechanics and Materials or similar experience or completed coursework

- Must be a US Citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.

Desired Skills:

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment

- Proficient with Microsoft Office

- Experience with Creo Parametric/Windchill PLM

Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Clearance Level: Secret

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
