CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:

  • CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, or Cisco CCNA desired.
  • Valid Florida Drivers' License with clean driving record

SUMMARY

Under general supervision, responsible for the direction, control and efficient, effective operation of the City information resources, including servers, virtual machines, firewalls, data links to internet service provider. Installs, configures, and supports the organization's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and Internet systems. Monitors network to ensure network availability to all system users and performs necessary maintenance to support network availability. Plans for future architecture upgrades to keep up with industry trends. Ensures network modeling, analysis, planning, and coordination between network and data communications hardware and software. Administers network security measures. Provides customer support for desktop computers and applications.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain firewall configurations.
  • Troubleshoot network problems.
  • Create and manage virtual machines using Hypervisor.
  • Manage email accounts using Exchange 365.
  • Manage user accounts with Active Directory.
  • Maintain software license library.
  • Troubleshoot network printer issues.
  • Manage iPhone accounts.
  • Use customer ticketing software.
  • Install network cameras.
  • Maintain antivirus software.
  • Manage group policy via Group Policy Editor.
  • Maintain and administer computer networks, mobile devices, phone systems, security camera systems, access control systems and related computing environments including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations.
  • Provide courteous and prompt customer service to City employees.
  • Operate and maintain audiovisual production and monitoring equipment within the City Council Chambers.
  • Continually maintain a cybersecurity posture; recommend best security practices.
  • Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations.
  • Resolve computer network and software problems, test computer hardware and software performance, and troubleshoot issues with computer applications or systems.
  • Configure, monitor, maintain email applications and virus protection software.
  • Recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations, and determine hardware or software requirements related to such changes.
  • Perform routine network startup and shutdown procedures, and maintain control records.
  • Maintain logs related to network functions, as well as maintenance, repair records and document network-related activities or tasks.
  • Coordinate resource procurement activities and identify the resource requirements for information technology projects.
  • Develop computer or information security policies or procedures and implement security measures for computer or information systems.
  • Maintain the Citys' handheld radios program for emergency situations.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES. This job has no supervisory responsibilities; however, involves validating City employee compliance with policies and rules of conduct.
