Primary Responsibilities
St. Lawrence University is now accepting applications for an Assistant Athletic Director for Internal Operations, Facilities & Events. This is a full-time, 12-month, position. The Assistant Athletic Director for Internal Operations, Facilities & Events will work closely with the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, the Administrative Staff of the Athletic Department, Equipment Managers, Coaching Staff, and third parties.
The Assistant Athletic Director will serve as a primary contact for day-to-day operations, game management, scheduling, building management, equipment staff supervision, reservations, student hiring, fan engagement, athletic facility operations, and other duties as assigned. The Assistant Athletic Director will report directly to the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and directs the operations of intercollegiate athletic programs by providing leadership and overall management in a manner consistent with the university’s mission. The Assistant Athletic Director will serve as a thought-partner with the administrative staff, including assisting with the short and long-range planning of facility maintenance, home event management, enhancements and the improvement of organizational efficiencies.

The Assistant Athletic Director will be responsible for the following:
Game Management:
Division I:
Complete oversight of home contest operations and management of the men’s & women’s ice hockey programs while developing a plan for effective set up, break down, staffing, training and technological oversight including but not limited to external audiences (ESPN+) and the internal audience (video and ribbon boards) within Appleton Arena.
Staying current with ECAC and NCAA policies, rules and regulations as they pertain to Division I Ice Hockey.
Collaborate with Home Event Managers, Production Studio Manager, Team Store Manager, Interns and Ticket Office to prepare for each home contest.
Produce and manage fan engagement initiatives for home contests.
Division III :
Oversite of Facilities and the Event Management unit, which includes all home intercollegiate contests for 33-intercollegiate sports and special events (i.e. facility rentals).
Planning with and oversite of the event managers (head coaches 2nd assignment) that are overseeing the day-to-day event of the venue they are managing.
Hire, supervise and manage student workers while overseeing the payroll process.
Produce and manage fan engagement initiatives for home contests.
Building Manager/ Scheduling Coordinator
Facility Scheduling/ room reservation oversight for all athletic facilities in collaboration with varsity intercollegiate athletic programs, intramurals teams, club sports, rentals and university events.
In collaboration with Facilities Operations and Safety & Security; oversight of facility maintenance, door access, and risk assessment.
Oversee day to day operations and facility maintenance.
Supervise facilities, equipment services and operations staff to ensure appropriate maintenance, coordinating and updating staff on upcoming projects and events.
Summer Sports Schools:
Coordinate with the Department of Health to obtain annual permits.
Coordinate with Facility Operations, Dining & Conference Services, Safety & Security and the Health Center for camp preparation.
Hiring of Summer Sports Schools Staff and supervision of Summer Sports School Directors.
Coordinate with equipment staff, facilities and directors for set up and break down.
Annually update Summer Sports Schools camp plan.
Produce and distribute contracts and invoices.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required
Ability to effectively communicate with coaches, administrators, students and University community members.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, including exemplary poise, tact and diplomacy and ability to always represent St. Lawrence University Athletic Department in a positive light.
Represent the University at appropriate conferences, NCAA functions and professional meetings.
Excellent organizational skills, including exceptional follow-up and follow-through skills as well as ability to plan, organize and control projects through to completion.
Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule to meet the requirements of the position, including frequent nights and weekends.
Experience in strategic planning and execution.
Knowledge of contracting and negotiating.
Knowledge of rules and regulations of the NCAA , ECAC , Liberty League, EISA , CSA , IHSA and St. Lawrence University.
Prior leadership and supervisory experience in college athletics is necessary.
Proactive thinking with interest in developing and executing new ideas to better improve the brand is necessary.
Proven ability to maintain highly confidential information on a variety of sensitive subjects.
Proven ability to analyze data, problems and develop realistic solutions.
Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree preferred.
Facility management experience at the collegiate level preferred.
Broadcast management and production experience preferred, ability to learn required.
Salary $58,500- $63,000 annually.
