At Kanaan Communications LLC , as a Drafter Designer, you’ll plot, map, design, and draft in CADD using the requirements for telecommunications networks and permits. You will create accurate network maps, layouts, drawings, and detailed electronic construction prints to meet customer expectations.

    What you’ll do as a Drafter Designer

  • Create new Outside Plant (OSP) network designs in various applications/software

  • Develop and issue work prints for OSP Telecom networks

  • Work with Engineering and Construction departments and coordinate with permitting agencies

  • Create documentation and reporting to support the work package, ie: bill of materials, labor quantities, etc.

  • Ensure facility designs follow company standards and comply with the requirements of local, state and federal regulations, which may include Rural Utilities Service (RUS)

  • Provide any documentation required for the cost-effective placement of communication facilities

  • Meet project deadlines and successfully complete tasks under tight timelines

  • Other duties as assigned

    What you’ll need

  • To be 18 years of age or older

  • Authorization to work in the United States for this company

  • High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or at least three years of telecommunications OSP Design/Engineering Experience is required

  • Associate’s or Bachelor's Degree in a related field is preferred

    Knowledge of

  • Telecommunications industry standards

  • Regulations for OSP facilities

  • Aerial, buried and underground construction methods and engineering requirements

  • Government permit requirements

  • OSP Communications Design systems

  • Applications such as NDS, FROGS, AutoCAD, Fireworks, Bidmaster, Infinium and/or Varasset

  • Fiber optic counts, fiber assignments and splicing schematics in a high-density fiber environment

    Physical abilities & exposures

  • Routinely: Work alone in remote locations, use keyboard and mouse

  • Occasionally: Operate vehicle, climb stairs, stand, walk
