State of Massachusetts Aquatic Program Coordinator- Program Coordinator III in Canton, Massachusetts

The Pappas Rehabilitation Hospital for Children (PRHC), operated by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH), is seeking an experienced and dedicated Program Coordinator III (Therapeutic Recreation Supervisor/Aquatics Coordinator). Under the direction of the Director of Recreation, the Program Coordinator III will design, provide, coordinate, and supervise all programs in therapeutic recreation and aquatic therapy for children and young adults with physical disabilities in an inpatient setting. This position plays a vital role in fostering patient success through individual and group activities, peer interaction, and skill development. The incumbent will also oversee aquatic therapy programs, ensuring a safe and positive environment, and manage community-based recreational initiatives. Please note:The hours for this position are 11:00 am - 7:30 pm, Tuesday-Saturday. The days off are Sunday & Monday. Duties and Responsibilities (These duties are a general summary and not all inclusive): * Facilitate, implement, and supervise recreation and aquatic therapy interventions based on individual patients' Plans of Care. * Document patients' participation and progress using SOAP notes and the Meditech Electronic Medical Records system. * Recruit, train, and supervise recreation therapists, aquatic staff, interns, and volunteers. * Coordinate community recreation trips and ensure safety during therapeutic sessions and events. * Maintain all pool operations and aquatic equipment in compliance with state and board of health standards. * Evaluate program outcomes and make necessary revisions to meet the evolving needs of the patient population. * Develop and assess leisure, recreation, and educational activities to prepare patients for discharge to adult settings. * Ensure compliance with Joint Commission and other regulatory standards. * Attend interdisciplinary and committee meetings to promote collaborative care. Required Qualifications * Experience working with children with disabilities in a clinical or rehabilitative setting. * Knowledge of therapeutic recreation models and aquatic programming. * Ability to supervise and manage staff and volunteers effectively. * Strong communication and documentation skills. * Knowledge of water safety, aquatic therapy, and facility maintenance. Preferred Qualifications * Experience in pediatric long-term care and rehabilitation. * Current certifications in Lifeguard Training, Water Safety Instruction, CPR, First Aid, and Aquatic Exercise Instruction. * Certified Pool Operator certification. /Agency Mission:/ Pappas Rehabilitation Hospital for Children (PRHC) located in Canton, MA is a Joint Commission Accredited, 90 bed pediatric hospital predominately serving children and young adults (ages 8-22) operated by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. The mission of PRHC is to provide medical, rehabilitative, educational, recreational, habilitative, transitional, and complementary alternative medical services to children and young adults with multiple disabilities, assisting them to achieve their optimal level of independence in all aspects of life. PRHC offers coordinated medical care and therapies in a hospital-based environment, as well as, K-12 schooling, located on the grounds. Educational Services are provided by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
