Job Description:
Aerojet Rocketdyne, an L3Harris Company, is seeking a Quality Process Engineer Specialist to join and support the Precision Measurement Room and Metrology teams at Canoga Park, California (Los Angeles area).
This individual will have responsibilities within two processes teams, PMR and Metrology. Support to the PMR engineering process by providing dimensional measurement technical support to PMR team members and customer, which may include participating in tool design reviews, reviewing and approving tool drawings, validating inspection check fixtures, performing tolerance stack-up analysis on dual purpose tools and developing automated and conventional measurement process improvements. Support the Metrology process and team by ensuring quality control of calibration assets, as well as developing calibration and test processes, including programming, calibration maintenance, and training personnel to operate the metrology equipment.
Essential Functions:
Assist with continuous improvement of calibration, checkout and measuring processes for key resources such as Coordinate Measurement Machines (CMM’s), profilometers and interferometers etc. as required to support fabrication and machine qualification.
Develop the calibration process for machining centers through programming (utilizing the software and NC programming code) and provide training on the process.
Write inspection programs and develop processes necessary to that parts meet customer requirements.
Support and create standard work to ensure quality control of configuration management across product, machine operations and tooling processes. Train personnel regarding standard work and process details essential to PMR and Metrology equipment operations and results.
Design and assemble fixtures and tooling.
Support management of preventative maintenance and servicing of PMR and Metrology assets.
Provide technical input required for proposals and capital purchases quotations.
Support communications with customers, vendors and employees regarding equipment and software questions and processes.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience in precision measurement and/or metrology processes. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
Knowledge of ANSI Y14.5 and ISO 1725 for dimensioning and tolerancing, and uncertainty analysis.
Competence in calibration and precision measurement across a variety of geometric and optical components.
Ability to operate and/or program CMM’s, profilometers, interferometers, roundness gauges and measurement microscopes.
Knowledge of quality principles, and hands-on work experience in a manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment, possessing strong interpersonal, verbal, written and organizational skills.
Must possess strong computer skills.
Is self-motivated to learn and support team and customer processes.
Has prior experience working with CMM's, Laser Tracker or Structured Light Systems
Experience with tool design, tool maker or tooling inspection.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $76,500 - $142,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
