Job Description: Cayuga Centers is hiring immediately for FAMILY SUPPORT COUNSELOR Location: Canandaigua, NY Pay: $58,458 - $82,800/annually Plus great benefits, including 3 weeks of vacation, 10 holidays, 3 personal days, sick time, 401K matching, Clinical Supervision toward licensure, training and opportunity for certification in trauma-informed, evidenced based/informed treatment models such as Motivational Interviewing and Trauma Focused-CBT (at no cost to you) and more! About the Program and Position: Share our belief that we all have the ability to change by using a strengths-based approach to help stabilize families involved in the child welfare system. Our Family Support Program (FSP) serves families that have a child/children at risk of foster care placement or are in need of an intensive program. This program runs for 4-6 months with 1-2 clinician meetings a week. The goal of the program is to reduce the risk of removal, and reduce the involvement of Child Protective Services in a family's life. Our clinicians work with families to help build skills to increase positive interactions in the home and in the community.   • Demonstrate your areas of clinical strength by implementing various therapeutic interventions/modalities in your practice, which heavily includes solution-focused therapy.

  • Model and teach basic life skills to empower individuals and families to become self-sufficient.

  • Become a primary support in helping families to develop preventative and responsive skills to a crisis.

  • Serve as a leader in collaborative efforts to develop an individualized service plan that will drive the provision of Resiliency services and deliver in a manner that is trauma-informed and strengths-based.

  • Demonstrate an inclusive and accepting practice both in the office and in the field to support a diverse and accepting culture.

Schedule:

  • We are looking for an applicant who is willing to work with the youth/families at a time that suits the youth and family needs on a flexible schedule. This is a full-time, 40-hour-a-week position with rotating on-call responsibilities.
Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree with:

  • Three years applicable experience in children’s mental health, addiction, and/or foster care/child welfare/juvenile justice or other related human services field and certification in an Evidence-Based Based Practice, and actively enrolled in a relevant Master’s program - Required. OR

  • Master’s degree with experience in strength-based family and children services preferred.

  • License and/or Limited Permit in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Creative Arts Therapy, or Mental Health Counseling preferred.

  • Experience working with children and families in a community-based or "in-home" setting.

  • Knowledge of the Child Welfare system.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.

  • Possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude needed to appreciate and encourage diversity and understand the concept of cultural trauma as it applies to individual and family functioning.

Physical Requirements:

  • Computer work requires sitting at a desk for long periods of time

  • Time on your feet for up to several hours a day

  • Lifting up to 50 pounds

  • Time driving to conduct client and family visits
