Job Description
Insight Global is looking for a Sr. Principal Chemical Engineer to support a solid rocket motor manufacturer client of ours. The Chemical Engineer will be responsible for the operation of chemical plant equipment and processes. This role involves conducting R&D projects to innovate and optimize products, designing experiments, and building prototypes to support product development. The engineer will compile and analyze testing data, present research results to estimate costs, establish performance standards, and identify solutions. They will also maintain lab and plant safety procedures for chemical storage, handling, transport, and disposal, ensuring compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.

Skills and Requirements
Bachelor's Degree (STEM/Chemical Engineering preferred, but not required)
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in propellant/explosive formulation, with a strong focus on solid rocket motor propellants
- Proven experience in conducting failure investigations related to solid rocket motor propellants, including supporting or running Failure Review Boards (FRBs)
Proficiency in testing and using test equipment for propellant formulation - Experience in one of the following areas: energetic material manufacturing and synthesis, hazards analysis, case bondline development, and physical testing and characterization of propellant and subsystems.
knowledge of thermal, structural, and ballistics analysis, and substantial experience in physics-based modeling null
