What You Will Achieve

As part of the Animal Models and Imaging (AMI) group within the Global Discovery Investigative and Translational Sciences (GDITS) team, you will collaborate with Pfizer's Research and Development teams and Investigative Partners to develop and execute animal models of disease, provide non-invasive imaging and biomarker support to advance the portfolio programs. It is your hard work along with innovative ideas and focus that will help in making Pfizer ready to achieve new milestones and help patients across the globe.

How You Will Achieve It

  • Collaborate with Pfizer Research Unit scientists and Investigative Partners to develop and execute animal models of diseases to study PK, PD and drug safety.

  • Perform in vivo studies utilizing a variety of techniques and non-invasive imaging and digital technologies (e.g. micro-CT, photo-acoustic imaging echocardiography, elastography, optical imaging, telemetry etc.) in support of the Pfizer's therapeutic portfolio programs.

  • Innovate and develop novel techniques, workflow, biomarkers, and digital tools for in vivo research and operate and maintain laboratory equipment.

  • Work independently on assignments using scientific knowledge and work experience. Contribute on research project teams to define study needs, conduct, analyze data and report study results.

  • Liaise with the Research Unit scientists and other Investigative Partners to best utilize animal models, digital and imaging technologies to support the therapeutic portfolio.

  • Produce study reports, posters, presentations, and other project communications, and manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.

  • Train and mentor junior scientists. Participate in group, departmental, and Pfizer teams for improving process or other organizational endeavors.

  • Will be required to work under the following: The United States Department of Agriculture Animal Welfare Act and associated Regulations and Standards, the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, and AAALAC accreditation standards.

Qualifications

Must-Have

  • PhD with 2+ years of experience in one these related fields - cardiovascular and metabolic disorders, neuroscience, immunology and inflammation.

  • Experience in scientific hypothesis generation and testing using in vivo techniques.

  • Experience working in a matrix environment, collaborate and conduct studies.

  • Demonstrated scientific excellence by publications and posters in the field.

  • Familiarity and experience with biomedical imaging biomarkers and technologies such as echocardiography, elastography, micro-CT, optical imaging, telemetry etc.

Nice-to-Have

  • Familiarity with drug discovery and development process.

  • Exposure to digital and computational tools/software.

Non-Standard Work Schedule

  • This is an Essential Personnel role: Essential Personnel are defined as the staff that are required to report to their designated work location, to ensure the operation of essential functions or departments during an emergency, as determined by Pfizer, or when the business has suspended operations. There are some individuals who may be required to perform essential services remotely and those individuals will be identified in advance and notified by their supervisors, but in most cases Essential Personnel are required to be on-site during an emergency or suspension of operations.

Work Location Assignment:On Premise

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $88,300.00 to $147,100.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 12.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
