The Technologist Aide in Diagnostic Radiology will assist the Registered Technologist in the performance of their duties. This will include, but not be limited to, the following: room preparation and cleaning; answering phones; transfer of information; transfer patient to/from Radiology; transfer of a patient from stretcher to the table; and other duties with which the technologist requires assistance to work more effectively and efficiently. Patient information is always protected.

Job Description:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

Accurately prepares room and patient for a procedure, assuring all needed exam equipment is available before the start of the examination. Including daily x-ray room QC, stocking supplies, etc.

Collect information by interviewing the patient, family, or significant other and other health care providers.

Completes assessments by utilizing the medical record and radiology requisition(s) or verbal orders to ensure the appropriateness of procedures ordered.

Provides safe and efficient patient transfers to and from the radiology department and supporting departments, ensuring optimization of imaging can occur.

Ensures that patients can ambulate on their own when necessary or, if not, they are given the proper supervision and assistance.

Implements departmental and facility standards by following the established policies and procedures.

Makes an accurate assessment of the patient’s condition/status, thus ensuring the appropriateness of the procedure ordered.

Manages and communicates information through various processes, which include but are not limited to the following: computers, and telephone/paging systems. Provide accurate information on the film such as correct patient identification, correct requisition, correct image annotation, and technologist initials.

Effectively communicate with other members of the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient care.

Properly identifies oneself and properly identifies patients before the start of a procedure as established by departmental policies and procedures.

Readily and willingly contributes to the team approach, to provide the best possible patient care and service.

Upon completion of the procedure, properly cleans and organizes room and performs any necessary cleaning of equipment as established by departmental policies and procedures standards.

Reports all safety hazards that could harm patients, visitors, or other hospital employees to appropriate supervisors immediately at all times.

Utilizes the proper procedure for emergency codes, such as Dial 22.

Upload and Burn CDs as requested by patients, providers, and associated departments.

Prepare fluoroscopy room for routine and urgent procedures as requested.

This position requires moving about on foot throughout the department and hospital and from station to station. The position also requires using the upper extremities to exert force to push, pull, or drag equipment and/or transport patients. The position also requires frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling the position patients.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High school graduate or equivalent.

Good interpersonal skills and patient care skills.

A certificate of Basic Life Support is preferred.
