Work Hours: 8:30 AM or 9:00 AM start - 35 hours/week

Pay Rate: $65-$68 per hour

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Manufacturing Engineer to assist our client in Cambridge, MA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical device manufacturing, with a focus on developing and optimizing efficient, cost-effective, and validated manufacturing processes. This is a great opportunity to contribute to the development of innovative medical devices, including capital and disposable products, in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for medical devices, including assembly, lot release testing, sterilization, and packaging.

  • Produce production-level assembly and part drawings for all components and sub-assemblies.

  • Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Six Sigma, and LEAN principles to ensure manufacturability, minimize costs, and enhance production efficiency.

  • Identify and evaluate potential contract manufacturing partners based on quality, cost, delivery timelines, and regulatory compliance.

  • Lead and collaborate with contract manufacturers to develop efficient and reliable manufacturing processes.

  • Act as the liaison between Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs) and internal teams to coordinate manufacturing activities.

  • Review engineering specifications and CAD data/drawings as part of the design review process.

  • Ensure the accuracy of Bill of Materials (BOM) and manage part/drawing releases.

  • Lead the development and execution of experiments and tests to qualify and validate manufacturing processes.

  • Conduct risk assessments, create mitigation plans, and provide hands-on solutions to manufacturing challenges.

  • Develop and maintain work instructions, equipment instructions, and quality management system documents.

  • Facilitate technical communications between Canon and contract manufacturers, including design transfer.

  • Contribute technical expertise in conducting pFMEA and process validation.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, engineers, quality specialists, and other stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering.

  • Experience: 5+ years in medical device manufacturing engineering, with at least 3 years in new product development, design transfer to production, and process validation.

  • Skills:

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, including assembly modeling with complex parts.

  • Experience with contract manufacturers/vendors in capital equipment, electronics testing, and catheter manufacturing.

  • Strong knowledge of sterilizable polymers and catheter fabrication techniques.

  • Expertise in DFM, Six Sigma, LEAN, cGMP, and process validation.

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite and statistical analysis software (e.g., Minitab or JMP).

  • Experience in tool and fixture design in SolidWorks.

Nice to Haves:

  • Lean and/or Six Sigma certifications.

Pay Details: $65.00 to $68.00 per hour
