Job Purpose:

To provide Site Quality Audits, Award verifications and Technical Audits relating to the Inspection of sites in construction and Technical Manual Reports for DRS cases interfacing with the external end user and property Developer as required completing a comprehensive report in all cases which is then delivered to the respective parties depending on the type of report.

Key Responsibilities:

Duties of the post include, but are not limited to:

  • Carrying out a comprehensive Site Audit, working closely with Developers and Builders to ensure workmanship and materials as far as is reasonably possible are in accordance with the Technical Manual and Building Regulations with initial assessment via a Desk Top review.

  • To provide technical support and technical investigation/analysis to internal departments relating to issues raised by Homeowners in the first two years of their Warranty and inspect sites and undertake reports and desk top reviews to determine the defect and compliance with our technical standards.

  • Provide succinct accurate advice and reports to the claims department on the technical cause of claims by reviewing third party reports or attending site to draw your own technical conclusions.

  • Effectively self-manage, by forward planning own workload, to provide a responsive, helpful and professional service whilst maximizing time spent on site.

  • Recording Audit details on the database and communicating comments to customers.

  • Carry out Developer assessments and present this at regional offices if requested to do so.

  • Ongoing liaison with Surveyors and Management on technical matters – to ensure that standards are being maintained and procedures adhered to.

  • Ongoing liaison with Developers / Clients / Builders, offering technical advice and guidance, and promoting areas of good practice. And identifying areas of improvement

  • To carry out tool box talks if required

  • Provide advice to line Manager on technical areas, so that team members are fully informed when dealing with potential clients.

  • To share knowledge within our organization on trends within the industry

  • To carry out award verification marking as required.

  • Support Key National and Regional teams with Technical Audits when requested to do so and where possible.

  • Undertake any other duties as reasonably required.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Full member/or associate of professional organizations with minimum grades accepted: MRICS / MCIOB / MCABE / MICWCI or similar.

  • Relevant BC experience, plan check and site inspection and relevant warranty, quality or defect resolution experience. Extensive experience of differing construction methods, as well as experience of defect resolution issues. The candidate must have experience and understanding of high-risk areas of construction, such as flat roofs, basements, cladding systems, etc.

  • In depth knowledge and understanding of the Building Regulations, associated legislation and construction standards.

  • Requires basic understanding of general insurance principals and terminology.

  • Ability to undertake site audits to assess both quality and the standards of all aspects of a Site Quality Review, SQR.

  • Excellent Communications and report writing skills.

  • Commercial awareness and ability to work as part of a team.

  • A demonstrable understanding of what an Audit entails.

  • Ability to create not only good working relationships with other construction professionals but to be able to deal effectively with members of the public.

  • The ability to meet deadlines and manage own workload within agreed parameters.

  • Demonstrable ability to use own initiative.

  • Ability to motivate self and influence others.

  • Excellent Customer Services skills and experience of Relationship Management.

  • Flexible in personal approach.

  • Working knowledge of MS Outlook (email), MS Word and MS Excel.

  • Proficient in English communications (written and oral).

  • Full UK Driving License.

  • Ability to fulfil the mobility requirements of the RMS role, including (but not limited to) the ability to:

  • move around a site

  • climb ladders

  • work at height

  • drive reasonable distance

Qualifications and Educational Requirements:
