TEKsystems Utility Locator Technician in California, Maryland

They have won additional work in St. Mary's county and has been asked by a large MSP to complete utility locating services. Due to continually growing their footprint in MD and expanding their locating services department they need a highly skilled professional to join the team as a utility locator specializing in water, sewer, and fiber.
Our locating department plays a pivotal role in ensuring project safety and efficiency. Utilizing specialized equipment and techniques, they accurately determine the location of underground utilities, averting accidental damage during excavation or construction activities. Beyond telecommunications, our locating services encompass utilities such as electrical cables, water mains, and sewer lines, ensuring comprehensive coverage and adherence to safety standards.
Responsibilities:
• Conducting site surveys to identify and mark the location of underground utilities.
• Using a variety of tools and equipment, such as ground-penetrating radar and electromagnetic locators, to detect and map underground utilities.
• Collaborating with construction crews, engineers, and project managers to ensure accurate utility mapping and safe excavation practices.
• Recording and documenting utility locations and any relevant information for future reference.
• Adhering to safety protocols and regulations to prevent accidents and injuries.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in utility locating, construction, or related field preferred.
• Knowledge of utility infrastructure, including types of underground utilities and their typical locations.
• Familiarity with utility locating equipment and techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, maps, and utility markings.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Gas and ARCGIS experience will be an added bonus to all experience
