Title: Finance Controller, Canada – AVEVA Software Canada Inc.

Reporting to: VP Finance Americas

Location: Calgary, Canada (Hybrid)

Summary

As a Financial Controller based in Canada, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial operations and ensuring regulatory compliance within the organization. Reporting to the VP Finance Americas, you will be responsible for managing financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance functions within the company

Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting:

-Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.

-Oversee the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

-Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.

-Present financial reports to management, providing insights and recommendations for decision-making.

Cash Flow Management:

-Manage cash flow by monitoring receivables, payables, and liquidity positions.

-Implement strategies to optimize cash flow and working capital management.

-Ensure compliance with banking covenants and financial agreements.

Compliance and Regulatory Reporting:

-Stay abreast of regulatory changes and ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations.

-Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and regulatory filings.

-Maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.

Financial Analysis and Strategy:

-Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making and business planning.

-Evaluate investment opportunities, capital expenditures, and potential acquisitions.

-Provide financial insights to support business growth initiatives and cost optimization strategies.

Team Leadership and Development:

-Lead and mentor the finance team, providing guidance and support for professional development.

-Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the finance department.

-Encourage continuous improvement and innovation in financial processes and systems

Basic Requirements:

-Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA designation preferred)

-Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.

-Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting principles (ASPE/IFRS) and tax regulations.

Preferred Requirements:

-Experience working in Quebec, with a thorough understanding of provincial regulations and compliance requirements

-Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting techniques.

-Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information in a clear and concise manner.

-Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial management software (e.g., ERP systems).

-Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on attention to detail and accuracy.

-Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
