PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

Our Canadian defined benefit and defined contribution pension plans and US retirement plans provide important financial security for employees and beneficiaries, which is a key factor in attracting and retaining talented railroaders at CPKC. As an administrator of several retirement plans, we must ensure data accuracy in HR and pension database. Areas of focus will be pension payrolls and data validations, transfers and retrievals for our Canadian and US retirement plans.

This is a full-time, permanent position located in our head office in Calgary, Alberta, reporting to the Manager Pension Services.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Identify SAP HR database gaps, configuration and master data issues

  • Collaborate with internal departments for resolution of data issues

  • Validate employee pension data set-up, changes and transfers to vendors as per regulations

  • Validate pension payrolls and related items

  • Retrieve pension data using queries to serve internal and external clients

  • Perform year-end activities

  • Assist in US qualified plan audits and non-discrimination testing

  • Handle profit sharing allocations and payment for qualified and non-qualified accounts

  • Prepare documentation for DB Pension Committees and 401k Investment Committee

  • Prepare documentation for ERISA and DOL filing of annual qualified plan

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Post-Secondary Education

  • HR or Pension Certification or Designation

  • Experience with DB and DC pension administration requirements

  • Experience with 401k plan design and administration requirements

  • Experience with form 5500 filing

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with SAP or HRIS systems

  • Knowledge of self-directed brokerage accounts and 401k plans would be an asset

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail

  • Work efficiently with large volumes of data, while thinking critically to resolve issues

  • Adhere to Confidentiality Rules and Regulations dealing with personal information

  • Strong organizational, time management and communication skills

  • Work effectively in a team environment
