Sureway Construction Group of Companies is currently hiring a Surveyor for its division in Calgary, AB.
Reporting to the Superintendent, the job of the Surveyor is to make exact measurements and determine property boundaries. Provide date relevant to the shape, contour, gravitation, location, elevation or dimension of land for engineering, mapmaking, land evaluation, construction and other purposes.
Conduct construction survey layout for land development and transportation projects;
Completing topographical surveys for as-builts and quantities;
Assist in preparation of as-built drawings and calculating earthwork quantities using Civil 3D;
Provide proper care and maintenance of survey gear, company truck and other equipment;
Provide stakeouts on station while providing correct data to the crew;
Planning, directing and conducting surveys to establish and mark property boundaries;
Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employees to exchange information and gather ideas;
Promote, execute and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture;
Attend daily and weekly safety meetings and inspections;
Participate as a vital team member, and contribute to the success of the organization, which may involve the provision of other technical and administrative support as required.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:
A minimum of 2 years' experience is required.
Must have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Trimble tsc3/tsc7.
Experience on an Alberta Transportation Highway project is an asset.
Ability to interpret drawings is required.
Ability to work in physically demanding conditions.
Experience grading alongside excavators is required.
CSA approved steel toed boots with 6” ankle support.
Successful candidates are required to have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license (non GDL).
Candidates must successfully pass pre-employment drug (urine or swab depending on site requirements) and alcohol testing.
May be subject to Criminal Record checks depending on site requirements.
