  • $65-80k base with potential annual bonus

Position Purpose:

The Safety Supervisor is responsible for developing, implementing and/or administering environmental, fleet safety and occupational health and safety programs to ensure applicable legal compliance and create and maintain a safe and secure working environment. Also responsible for facility security and disaster preparedness planning and effective management of claims (e.g., property and casualty – workers’ compensation, auto liability and physical damage, and products/general liability). Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and performs any duty assigned to best serve the company.

Responsibilities:

  • In coordination with the operations leaders, administer Core-Mark’s Safety Program at the Opco.

  • Ensure compliance with the company’s Health and Safety processes and procedures, as well as local and provincial Occupational Health and Safety Legislation

  • Maintain written health and safety strategies, programs, policies, and procedures including Evacuation plans, Fire Plans, WHMIS etc.

  • Assist in coordination and delivery of health and safety training and communication programs

  • Maintain records of training.

  • Maintain a strong presence on the warehouse floor to monitor activities, behaviours and engage associates on health and safety matters.

  • Assist operational leaders with incident reporting, investigations, corrective measure identification and monitor corrective measure completion

  • Proactively identify risks and collaborate with Operations Management on elimination or control of the hazards

  • Coordinate and schedule required external safety training such as First Aid, JHSC, Mobile Equipment

  • Onboard new employees to ensure they are provided with Safety expectations

  • In conjunction with the JHSC, prepare documented job hazard analysis

  • Ensure Safety Data Sheets are available and up to date for chemical inventory

  • Participate in JHSC, including maintaining records and action log

  • Reporting on safety statistics and trends

  • Act as a point of contact for all safety related enquiries

  • Other duties and projects as assigned

The ideal candidate should possess the following:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) with 2 years of higher education.

  • 1-3 years administrative experience with strong administrative and organization skills; detail oriented

  • Intermediate level experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Ability to implement Safety plans and conduct Safety Training.

  • Ability to analyze and critically evaluate situations.

  • Ability to communicate verbally and/or through written communication with all levels of personnel within the Company.

  • Ability to organize daily tasks and to work in a self-directed environment with minimal supervision.

  • Safety experience in a warehouse distribution environment an asset

  • Certified Joint Health & Safety Worker Member (Level 1 & 2) an Asset

  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
