Job Description

DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to the Supervisor, Maintenance, the successful candidate will perform maintenance tasks on various types of HVAC equipment, lighting systems and plumbing fixtures. The candidate will provide tenants with a high level of customer service in the timely completion of tenant requests. This position includes occasional overtime during weekends and holidays and is subject to an on-call rotation. A strong team player is required for this role.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Repairing and re-lamping existing lighting systems.

  • General plumbing maintenance including repairs, replacement of components, and the clearing of drainage systems.

  • Assist with HVAC repairs and the competition of other tasks as assigned.

  • Embody and support Brookfield Properties’ Health & Safety and Environment Policy.

  • Proactively identify, manage, and mitigate hazards to reduce risk to the workplace.

  • Engage in training and continuing education to develop the knowledge, skills, and competencies required to work safely.

  • Take action to stop work if it cannot be executed safely or if conditions or behaviours are unsafe.

  • Immediately report SH&E incidents, near-misses, unsafe conditions, and/or at-risk behaviors to their supervisor; then diligently work to correct the problem.

  • Promote safe work practices and safe working conditions by all Brookfield Properties Safe Work Procedures.

  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment when required.

QUALIFICATIONS

SERVICE / PERSONAL SKILLS:

A significant portion of time in this position will be spent servicing tenant requests. This daily interaction with Brookfield customers demands an individual with a keen eye for service orientation as exemplified by the consistent demonstration of empathy and courtesy in all interactions. Our level of tenant service further requires the communication of a sincere desire to contribute to tenant satisfaction by taking personal responsibility for resolving the tenants’ concerns.

EXPERIENCE & TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Candidates must be mechanically inclined with a general knowledge of plumbing and an array of mechanical equipment including air handlers.

  • Able to troubleshoot and fault-diagnose building systems and equipment.

  • Understanding electrical systems is an asset.

  • A self-starter who is able to work independently with minimum supervision.

  • Must understand the maintenance and operational requirements of mechanical equipment.

EDUCATION / DESIGNATIONS / LICENSES:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Willing to pursue a 5th Class Power Engineering certification is an asset.
