Eaton Corporation Internship : Power Systems Engineering ( 4 to 12 months) - Calgary, AB, Canada in Calgary, Alberta

Eaton’s ES AMER PCS division is currently seeking a Power Systems Engineering Intern.

What you’ll do:

Primary Function:

The Engineering Intern position with Eaton’s Power Systems Engineering Group will primarily involve reviewing project specifications & single line diagrams, correspondence to gather data, performing power system analysis studies, electrical design, and some AutoCAD drafting.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide applied engineering in the areas of power system studies, power quality analysis, and electrical power system design.

  • Performing short circuit, overcurrent coordination, load flow, power quality, and arc flash hazard analysis studies.

  • Review project specifications, single-line diagrams, and equipment Bill of Materials.

  • Prepare power system study data requests and follow up as required.

  • Assist with electrical substation and protection & control design tasks.

  • Manage paperwork and office procedures.

  • Perform all work at a high level.

  • Perform all job functions with adherence to Eaton’s Philosophy and Values, as well as Safety and Environmental standards.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in an Electrical Engineering Degree program with preference given to 3rd and 4th-year students with a focus on electrical power systems.

  • This position does not offer relocation.

  • Valid driver’s license required.

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Good organizational and time management skills required.

  • Strong computer skills in AutoCAD, Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Experience in the use of SKM PTW, ETAP, EDSA, CYME, or EasyPower power system analysis software would be a plus.

  • Ability to read and understand single-line diagrams and schematics would be an asset.

  • Knowledge of applicable electrical code requirements and design practices is an asset.

  • Good attitude and work ethic required.
