Startec Assembly Lead Hand - Night Shift in Calgary, Alberta

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Startec Compression & Process is currently recruiting an Assembly Lead hand to work at our Shepard Shop (9423 Shepard Rd SE, Calgary, AB, T2C 4R6).  The Assembly Lead Hand plays a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating assembly line operations to ensure efficient production and adherence to quality standards. This position requires strong leadership skills, technical knowledge of assembly processes, and the ability to manage a team of assemblers to meet production goals.  Shift: 4:30 p.m. -2:20 a.m.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPI):

TECHNICAL SKILLS (Weighting 50%) Specialized Skills & Knowledge

  • Excellent product knowledge

  • Read, interpret and red-line (Isometrics, P&ID's, G.A.’s)

  • Tack welding experience

    Installation Skills

  • Installation and placement of major equipment

  • Installation and support of spooling

  • Skid layout for small bore piping

  • Fitting of socket and screwed small bore pipe

    TEAM LEADERSHIP (Weighting 30%) Team Coordination

  • Direct, mentor and train apprentices

  • Manage assigned work to be completed

  • Team player with positive engagement

  • Provide constructive feedback to the assembly team

    Task Management & Problem Solving

  • Participate in planning and solving problems

  • Prioritize tasks efficiently

  • Ensure timely completion of assigned work

  • Adapt to changing priorities and deadlines

    SAFETY AND COMMUNICATION (Weighting 20%) Operational Safety

  • Maintain a safe work environment

  • Participate in safety and company programs

  • Communicate with shift counterpart

    Administrative Oversight

  • Prepare cross-over reports

  • Liaise with shipping & receiving

  • Participate in project reviews with engineering & drafting

    QUALIFIC ATIONS:

  • Journeyperson Certificate (Red Seal interprovincial preferred)

  • 5+ years of pipefitting & assembly experience in a fabrication shop environment

  • A minimum of 2 years of previous Lead-hand experience (An Asset)

  • A team player with good organizational skills and excellent communication skills

  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
