After School Program Care Provider

We are seeking an experienced and energetic *after school program care provider *to join our team! You will be responsible for encouraging children's intellectual, psychological, and physical growth. POSITION SUMMARY: Cares for the children enrolled in after school care. Staff creates a positive, safe and enjoyable environment. Provides a quality experience for the children and parents that focuses on the YMCA Four Core Values: caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.  General hours for this position are 3:00pm-6:30pm for after school care.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Care for children in grades 4th-8th    2. Builds positive relationships with parents so they feel comfortable leaving their children with confident and reliable child care providers. 3. Keeps records of attendance and clipboard sign-ins, is able to complete an accident report when needed and records special needs as specified by the parent/guardian. 4. Keeps the safety and well-being of the children their first priority at all times. Works in collaboration with other staff to keep the room and toys clean. 5. Design a daily and weekly schedule 6. Plan games and activities that are developmentally appropriate 7. Provide stimulating activities to keep children engaged 8. Follows YMCA policies and procedures as explained in the YMCA Employee Handbook. 9. Any other duties as deemed necessary by the Program Director and/or Executive Director.

QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Must complete  PITT child abuse training prior to start 2. Must submit clearances-state police, child abuse, and FBI 3. After School staff must have a pleasant and patient personality, with the aptitude for understanding children and parent needs. 4. Previous experience with diverse populations, ability to develop positive relationships with people from different backgrounds is preferred. 5. The ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate activities. 6. Strong understanding of child development 7. Patient, kind, and nurturing 8. Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 1. Ability to perform all physical aspects of then position -- including walking, running, standing, bending, reaching, and possibly lifting children. 2. Ability to participate in all activities and respond to emergencies quickly and appropriately.

Job Type: Part-time Monday-Friday 3:00-6:00    January 6th until the end of the school year tentatively May 28th (5 months)
