Production Worker (Solution Preparation/Sterilization Technician)

The Technician works in a Clean Room environment and is responsible for production duties of Solution Preparation/Sterilization. The technician works in accordance with good manufacturing practice and established standard operating procedures. They will work well with co-workers and supervisors in a team environment. This role requires on-site availability to work at our Burnaby facility in British Columbia.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support preparation, cleaning, and sterilization of supplies: containers, glassware, closures, instruments, carboys, and other equipment.

  • Operate, clean, and maintain production equipment and devices by following written procedures.

  • Perform daily equipment monitoring and reporting issues promptly.

  • Prepare solutions according to prescribed procedures and techniques.

  • Aseptically transfer and chemically sterilize valves according to prescribed procedures and techniques.

  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of working area.

  • Maintain logbooks/daily production logs/time systems accurately.

  • Perform data collection and entry into storage medium (ex. forms, computer, etc.).

  • Maintain traceability and proper documentation on all materials and components processed through the area.

  • Perform cleaning of controlled environment and gowning area in accordance with prescribed procedures.

  • Handle chemicals in a safe manner and in accordance with established procedures.

  • Communicates work related issues using email and/or in person.

  • Responsible for ensuring work instructions, work schedules, and work information are clearly understood.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to do a repetitive detailed work within guidelines and maintain precise records.

  • Able to read and understand instructions, rules, and procedures written in English.

  • Capable of understanding and following verbal instructions given in English.

  • Uses English as the spoken language in the work environment.

  • Good manual dexterity.

  • Basic computer skills and able to learn new software programs.

  • Open-minded and accepts constructive feedback.

  • Ability to work well with co-workers in a team environment.

  • Able to work responsibly with minimal supervision.

Education and Experience:

  • Highschool Diploma.

  • Post-secondary chemistry courses, preferable.

  • Education and/or experience in related industry, preferable.

Working Conditions:

  • Temporary PT position with opportunity to become FT permanent.

  • Weekend shifts, some OT and weekday shifts scheduled as needed by the business.

  • Kneeling, bending, standing and/or walking for extended periods.

  • Work in a controlled environment requiring special garments and safety equipment (ex. gloves, masks, etc.).

  • Work in a confined space (ex. autoclave, fume hoods, etc.).

  • Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.

  • Handling and usage of chemicals.

Compensation:

Training Wage: $19/hr, Upon completion of training, wage will increase to $20/hr.
