The University of Vermont (UVM) is looking for a senior level System Engineer to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for growth and development, working with the latest Linux technologies and supporting security-focused initiatives in a fast-paced 24x7 production data center environment.

The initial focus of this position will be helping design and deploy Secure Enclaves following industry standards like NIST 800-171 in support of our growing research initiatives. Skills with Splunk, IDPS or next-gen firewalls, advanced logging and alerting are all desirable for the success of our project.

As a crucial member of the Infrastructure Team within the Systems Architecture & Administration department, you\'ll work collaboratively to configure and maintain hundreds of Linux servers and petabytes of SAN storage that support all aspects of server computing at UVM, including research, academic, and administrative functions. In this role, you\'ll utilize your automation skills to create scripts that manage and monitor services, ensuring consistent configuration across services and thousands of users. You\'ll also play a key role in system tuning, troubleshooting, capacity planning, business continuity, and system documentation, backed by a team of skilled systems engineers to ensure smooth operations. With your attention to detail and good judgment, you\'ll make sure that any changes to system-level software are carefully planned to reduce negative impacts for our users.

We are looking for the right person to join our team and are willing to hire at a mid-career or senior level, with a salary commensurate to experience. If you are ready to take your career to the next level, apply for this exciting opportunity as a Systems Engineer today!
