Payroll and Benefits Specialist – Burlington (Contract)

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Payroll and Benefits Specialist provides accurate payroll and benefits services in a growing and fast paced environment.

Key Accountabilities:

  •  Reconciling of payroll before transmission, including investigating & resolving any discrepancies, and ensuring established deadlines are met;

  •  Precision required while processing & complying of necessary garnishments, monthly billings & remittances;

  •  Manage, maintain and be knowledgeable on all benefits plans, contacts, changes, updates, billings, etc., while acting as the main contact for both hourly & salary employees;

  •  Maintain & update payroll records as necessary, including accountably for filing and general clerical duties as required, while ensuring employee confidentially;

  •  Prepare and distribute various financial and operational reports for internal and external stakeholders as required;

  •  Provide administrative support to the Finance department, including month-end responsibilities;

  •  Responsible for various other ad hoc payroll responsibilities.


  •  Minimum 3-5-years of experience in a functional Payroll position;

  •  Solid knowledge of ADP is a must;

  •  Completion of Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification;

  •  Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (advanced level in MS Excel) and other Windows Applications;

  •  Solid experience working in an Unionized Environment;

  •  Strong interpersonal skills partnered with the ability to communicate effectively with all areas of the organization.
