Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation Meter Relay Technician I - II in Burlington, Kansas

JOB TITLE:Meter Relay Technician I - II REQUISITION ID: * NUC00B0 *DEPARTMENT:Electrical Maintenance LOCATION:Wolf Creek – Burlington, KS Pay:$51.94 POSITION SUMMARY: The Relay & Meter Tech I, II will provide leadership, experience, knowledge and skills to perform maintenance, troubleshooting, surveillance, calibration, repairs, rework, removal/installation, and preventative maintenance throughout the plant. The Relay and Meter Tech I, II will have the knowledge and skills; to use various test equipment to perform maintenance, provide feedback on procedure corrections, work instructions, walk downs, job preparation, and execution. Must be willing to work shift work. This position is distinguished from the Journeyman Electrician position by an increased responsibility for a higher degree of technical knowledge and skill. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: •Conduct troubleshooting, preventative, corrective, testing and surveillance of maintenance activities associated with relay and meter components to ensure the equipment meets the intended functions. •Perform duties and responsibilities of a Journeyman Electrician. •Take an active role in the development of the meter and relay staff. •Provide assistance in scheduling including support supervision with work assignments, schedule preparation including T-week assignment and interface with IPS, TSEO development and crew leadership. •As progression is made through the training program, participants will assist or perform more complex maintenance task as assigned requiring application of knowledge and skills. •Perform other duties as assigned by supervision/management.

Education and Experience Requirements: Relay and Meter Tech I position requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Additional requirements include: 1. One year experience as a Nuclear Journeyman Electrician, preferred experience in relay and meter or, 2. Flint Hills Power Plant Technology Program or an equivalent technical program degree and two years experience in relay and meter. 3. Three years directly related experience in relay and meter with certifiable training (ex. NETA certification ) in relay and meter. 4. An ABET accredited bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or relevant bachelor’s degree in engineering technology * * * * ** Relay and Meter Tech II position requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Additional requirements include: 1. One year experience as a Relay and Meter Tech I or, 2. Flint Hills Power Plant Technology Program or an equivalent technical program degree and three years experience in relay and meter or, 3. Five years directly related experience in relay and meter with certifiable training in relay and meter. 4. An ABET accredited bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or relevant bachelor’s degree in engineering technology and one year directly related experience in relay and meter with certifiable training in relay and meter.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Relevant Vendor Training is Preferred.

Cognitive Skills: •These positions require the ability to: read and interpret documents such as procedures & drawings, safety rules, pre-job briefs, governmental regulations, and radiation work permits (RWPs); write routine reports and correspondence; effectively speak and present information and respond to questions from customers, managers or members of other departments. •These positions require the ability to: calculate figures; apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. •These positions require the ability to: carry out instructions, define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; interpret an extensive variety of technician instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

VISION: •These positions require the ability to pass vision requirements associated with Company physical as well as identify and distinguish colors. NOISE: •These positions require the ability to work in high noise environments.

Additional Information: •These positions require the successful completion of the MASS test. (NOTE: This is not applicable to candidates who have reached the Nuclear Journeyman Electrician or I&C Technician II classification by 1/24/2008.) •Management has the right to require this position to pass and maintain respirator fit and qualification when necessary. This is not an essential job function for Relay and Meter Tech II position, but management retains its rights to ensure adequate numbers of respirator-qualified personnel to meet station requirements. •These positions require the ability to work efficiently and effectively with minimal supervision. •These positions may be required to travel for training. •These positions require a satisfactory work record including good attendance.
