JOB TITLE:Info Security Analyst I - SOC/NOC REQUISITION:INF00BO DEPARTMENT:Information Security - F&M Location/Virtual LOCATION:Kansas City, Missouri PAY RANGE:Info Security Analyst I: $57,100 - $71,400

Scheduled Work Hours:This full-time position requires a commitment of 40 hours per week, with shifts varying across different times, including evenings, nights, and weekends. Additionally, the role may necessitate additional hours to cover vacations and holidays. Importantly, the position is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, ensuring continuous support and operational readiness.

Job Description:As a SOC/NOC Analyst, you will be an integral part of Evergy’s Security Operations & Network Infrastructure Center (SONIC); responsible for monitoring, detecting, and responding to cybersecurity threats, network incidents, and service disruptions. This role combines technical expertise with a commitment to protecting the United States’ essential energy infrastructure. Job tasks include but not limited to: • Monitor and respond to security events using various cybersecurity tools • Triage alerts and incidents, identifying potential threats and operational issues • Monitor network/infrastructure to ensure maximum uptime and timely remediation of degradations/outages • Work with security team to perform tests and uncover network vulnerabilities • Participate in after-hours on call rotation • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of security and network alerts • Review suspicious emails submitted by staff • Contribute to maintaining and improving security and operational processes • Stay up to date on the latest security threats and trends • Provide occasional technical support via phone outside normal business hours • Develop familiarity with Evergy’s systems, environments, and processes • Perform threat and vulnerability analysis as well as security advisory services • Support CIP compliance reporting (CIP-007-4) • Support stakeholder reporting of weekly cybersecurity posture • Develop company-wide best practices for IT security • Analyze and response to previously undetected threats or potential security risks • Monitor and identify suspicious activity and threats to the organization

Requirements: • Must be a US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, or foreign national of a Generally Authorized Destination (GAD) due to 10 CFR 810 regulations • Minimum 1-3 years in a network or cybersecurity support role, or equivalent certification (SOC experience preferred) • Cisco network certification and/or Security certification (both preferred), higher level certifications like CEH or CISSP are a plus • Knowledge of disaster recovery, computer forensic tools, technologies, and methods.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required: • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure • Dependable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented • Excellent prioritization, collaboration, & communication skills (written & verbal).
• Love to solve problems and have a passion for learning • Ability to work and communicate effectively with other company personnel. • Solid understanding of networking protocols, security technologies, and operating systems (Windows, Linux, etc.) • Experience with incident detection, response, and resolution processes preferred • Experience using security information and event management (SIEM) tools, antivirus software, and incident response procedures • Proficiency in the Office 365 suite of products (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) • Able to handle multiple priorities and operate efficiently and effectively • Capacity to adapt to evolving cybersecurity threats and technologies • Passion for cybersecurity and a desire to contribute to critical infrastructure protection

Working Conditions: This role typically involves working in an in-office or work-from-home environment, although occasional fieldwork may be necessary. As part of your responsibilities, you may need to travel to other locations. It’s important to note that working as a cybersecurity analyst entails extended periods of sitting or standing at a workstation.
