GAF Material Handling Associate in Burgaw, North Carolina

Essential Duties

  • Receives orders from supervisor or assistant foreman. Must safely Operate sit-down forklift or walkie-rider to pull and properly stack orders on pallet.

  • Responsible for Proficiently operation hand-held scanning devices to scan merchandise from bin locations to the order using Warehouse Management Inventory System.

  • Accurately records daily activities and daily control sheets. Accurately fills out trailer manifest and related shipping documents in a timely manner. Responsible for reporting inventory issues in a timely manner.

  • Must meet established efficiency standards on a daily and ongoing basis.

  • Request maintenance orders be written for machine or safety problems or hazards.

  • Must adhere to all plant safety, quality, production and efficiency standards.

  • Responsible for ongoing housekeeping throughout the shift and immediately reporting any unsafe conditions to supervisor or assistant foreman.

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee will be required to routinely communicate information with/to other team members in a professional manner; will frequently stand and walk; exercise use of both hands to handle objects and to reach, tools and controls; will routinely stoop, bend and reach into bin baskets on floor; must be able to routinely lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications Required

  • H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required

  • 6 months prior manufacturing experience in a fast paced environment. Required

  • Prior UPS Worldship experience Preferred

  • Available to work overtime on short notice, nights, holidays and weekends.

  • Prior Working Knowledge of Bar Coded Inventory management system desirable.

  • Ability to communicate, both written and orally, by means of radio or telephone, computer problems, product shortages, and other order issues.

  • Basic math skills addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

  • Performs assigned tasks with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to differentiate various stock items and product differences.

  • Ability to operator a sit-down forklift and walkie rider.

  • Ability to work cooperatively and to conduct oneself in a professional manner in the course of performing the job.
