GAF Maintenance Electrician in Burgaw, North Carolina

Summary

The Maintenance Technician-Electronics responds to issues on the production lines and performs diversified maintenance work. The primary role of this position will focus on installation and repair of complex electrical/electronic/mechanical equipment including automated machines, robotics, and process controls. This position assists in implementing machine modifications and upgrades, conducts research and development to resolve issues, and recommends improvements to the overall performance of the plant equipment and systems. Qualified candidates must have Allen Bradley PLC programming/ troubleshooting experience.

Regular Shift: 5am to 3:30p (Monday-Thursday, some Friday work required)

Pay: $32.44 - $33.17 per hour

Essential Duties

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Knowledge of the NEC and use of wiring methods that meet all code requirements

  • Plan and perform work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical theories and principles.

  • Periodically investigate and make an analysis of electrical or electronic-based problems associated with the production operations, and take the appropriate action to correct these problems.

  • Build and install industrial automation equipment.

  • Conducttechnicalauditsofequipmentconditionstatusandreportfindings.

  • Use Lock Tag Verify to remove all energy sources from equipment.

  • Ability to use basic hand tools and other tools required by your area of technical expertise.

  • Use Logix 500 and Studio 5000 software to troubleshoot. (Preferred)

  • Technicalskillsreflectinganunderstandingoftheoreticalconceptsaswellas practical application.

  • Safetyconsciousnesswithathoroughunderstandingoffederal,state,localand plant-wide safety standards and concepts.

  • Haveapositiveattitudeandbemotivated,responsible,andtrustworthy.

  • Demonstrate enthusiasm for “hands-on” work in a manufacturing plant environment.

  • Willingness to seek assistance and collaborate with support personnel.

  • Demonstrate good teamwork in supporting all plant goals.

  • Assist in training maintenance technicians, plant operators, and other personnel.

  • Perform all duties in a safe manner, avoiding injuries to self and all coworkers.

  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency to correct operational and safety problems.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

  • The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • May be required to obtain powered equipment certification relevant to job responsibilities.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Associates degree in electronics preferred with 2+ years experience in a similar position or a High School Diploma / GED with 5+ year experience in a similar position.

  • Allen Bradley PLC programming and troubleshooting experience.

  • Experience installing and repairing a wide variety of complex electrical/electronic equipment including automated machines, robotics and process controls.

  • Prior experience in industrial maintenance and repair of equipment as well as basic electrical and process control experience

  • Occasional shift, weekend and holiday coverage is required.

  • Experience performing preventative maintenance, repairs, and replacement of industrial equipment including power transmission components, conveyors, pumps, valves, and piping.

  • Experience working with both industrial pneumatic and hydraulic systems.

  • Good communications skills: verbal, listening, reading and writing.
