Description
Buffalo Hearing & Speech center is currently seeking day to day Substitute Teachers for our special education classrooms. Candidates must have availability during the school day (7:45am - 2:45pm) one or more days a week.

Lockport (High Street)
Buffalo (North Street - Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus)
Job Summary: Responsible for the evaluation, diagnosis and implementation of appropriate treatment program designed to habilitate or rehabilitate in the areas of pre-academics/academics, social emotional development, behavior as well as fine and gross motor skills. Substitute Teachers will be expected to do these responsibilities to the best of their capabilities under the directions of the ECP supervisors and classroom staff on an “as needed” basis.
Essential Functions:
Responsible for implementing site specific curriculum and plans classroom environment to encourage learning, independence and generalization of skills
Responsible for modeling appropriate speech and language
Attends appropriate meetings when necessary
Assists and collaborates with the multidisciplinary team for the program design and implementation, the carryover of individual therapy goals to the classroom (e.g., speech, OT, PT, etc.), using specific teaching and/or behavior management strategies
Maintains contact with the parent or guardian regarding their child’s progress within the classroom
Responsible, with other team members, for children’s supervision and safety
Meets with and shares information regarding educational strategies, techniques, and philosophies with classroom aides and/or personal / 1:1 aides
Submits highest quality written reports in a timely manner in accordance with compliance standards including, but not limited to, evaluation reports, treatment plans, log notes, progress reports, and discharge summaries as required by site or assignment.
Make appropriate referrals as needed in order to affect positive therapeutic results.

Education:
Minimum Degree Required:Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a related field
OR
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree AND experience working in early childhood field
Minimum Experience Required:None
Required License/ Registration/ Certification: Preferred:New York State Certification as a permanent Special Education Teacher or Teacher of Students with Disabilities (Birth-2)
Physical Requirements:
Physical actions may include, but are not limited to; bending, kneeling, standing, squatting, reaching, printing, crawling, and running.
Vision, speech, tactical and hearing senses adequate to perform job requirements.
Frequent sitting/ standing and when appropriate, floor sitting with pediatric patients.
