REACH Academy Charter School Special Education Co-Teacher (Gr. 7/8) in Buffalo, New York
This position is for a Special Education Grades 7-8 Math (Middle School is departmentalized) Co-Taught Integrated Classroom Position. This position will only be for the remainder of the 24-25 school year with the likelihood of it continuing to the 25-26 school year and beyond.
Required Knowledge and Skills Executes the mission of REACH Academy Charter School including high academic achievement, the application of critical thinking skills and ethical standards to learning, and living and problem solving through individual teaching and learning practices Fluent in reading, writing and speaking in English o Willingness to adapt to an existing curriculum as well as contribute ideas to enhance the respective academic programs; Ability to be flexible, open and willing to implement new ideas in the classroom; Seek resources and solutions to effectively solve problems o Excellent attendance and punctuality A clear understanding of and appreciation for the goals and criteria of our school Have a passion for Urban Education Have knowledge of New York State Next Generation Standards Adhere to a high level of professional and ethical standards
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepare lesson plans that engage, stimulate and instruct students including small group center based instruction; Instruct students based on the REACH curriculum and utilize available instructional technologies in the classroom; Regularly evaluate student performance, and monitor for achievement of state standards; Act as a role model by making your students feel motivated while maintaining an approachable personality; Regularly communicate with parents and legal guardians regarding child's performance, track and record student progress and keep records up to date for progress reports and report card conferences; Provide a classroom management plan ensuring safety at all times; Execute daily lesson plans for all assigned blocks; Implement all REACH routines and procedures with fidelity; Submit lesson plans and unit plans in a timely manner; Actively participate in all professional development and coaching sessions as well as weekly team planning; Incorporate feedback from coaches in a timely manner; Consistently analyze scholar data and engage in self-reflection on practices; Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School.
Qualifications/Education and/or Experience It's not required but is preferred that teachers hold a NYS professional teaching certificate in their subject area or be eligible for reciprocity to include (1) Minimum Bachelor's degree in subject area to be taught, Master's Degree preferred; (2) Proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom and commitment to accountability preferred ; (3) Belief in and alignment with REACH Academy Charter School core beliefs and educational philosophy; (4) Valid New York State Certification, except in cases where the Head of School shall make an exception under the terms of this Policy, in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Your salary step will depend on your prior years of experience and certification. A first-year teacher with no experience will start at $45,000. A teacher on step 10 which is the most prior credit we can give is $65,830.

Benefits and Perks -Our school days runs for 6:50AM - 2:30PM (one day a week until 4:30 for planning) -Our starting salary for a 1st year teacher with no prior experience is between $45,000 and it goes up from there aligned with years of prior experience if certified. If uncertified salary starts at $40,000.
