Senior Financial Analyst Overview

Elderwood Administrative Services, LLC, a large senior and pediatric post-acute healthcare services provider, is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join its financial reporting and budgeting team. Reporting to the Senior Director of Financial Reporting and Budgeting, the Senior Financial Analyst will design, develop, and enhance financial reports and budget models for internal and/or external customers, enabling stakeholders to understand the financial and operational performance of healthcare facilities. Applicants must be capable of working remotely, using technology such as messaging applications and video screenshares to collaborate with colleagues who are also working remotely. This is a hybrid position that can be worked remotely from the Buffalo, NY area, but which may require on-site work at our corporate office 1-4 days per month as needed to complete assigned tasks. Our office is located at 500 Seneca Street, Suite 100, Buffalo, NY 14204.

Responsibilities

Senior Financial Analyst Responsibilities

The Senior Financial Analyst will work extensively within our financial reporting and budgeting software during month-end reporting and the annual budget cycle. The analyst will support senior business leaders in translating operational goals into tangible budget targets, using tools such as fixed vs. variable cost analysis, staffing matrices and per-unit-of-service costing.

Examples of projects given to the Senior Financial Analyst might include:

  • Build a model to calculate employee eligibility for payroll grants based on multiple criteria such as hire date, average weekly hours worked, and pay rate thresholds.

  • Edit PivotTables of financial data live in meetings to answer questions from decision-makers.

  • Support rate negotiations with payers by developing models to estimate fixed cost per patient day at varying levels of nursing home occupancy.

    Other key job functions will include ad-hoc report writing and editing of existing reports, managing ETL (extract-translate-load) processes between source systems and budgeting/reporting software, data validation, data presentation and end user education. Microsoft Excel will be a primary tool for data analysis; candidates must have an expert-level proficiency with PivotTables and should be comfortable working with complex formulas used for multiple-criteria lookups, date manipulation, and data cleaning.

Qualifications

Senior Financial Analyst Educational Requirements and Qualifications

  • B.S. in Accounting, Finance, or Economics.

  • Expert-level Microsoft Excel proficiency; candidate should be comfortable working with complex formulas used for multiple-criteria lookups, date manipulation, and data cleaning.

  • 5+ years of accounting or financial analysis experience, including extensive work with financial statements. Experience in the healthcare industry is preferred.

  • High attention to detail and accuracy, along with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to listen actively and respond to others.

  • Team player with the ability to establish and maintain collegial working relationships.

  • This position requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors. To ensure a safe work environment for residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors of the Company, and to permit unfettered communication between the employee and those residents, coworkers, visitors, and supervisors, this position requires that the employee be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level.

    Senior Financial Analyst Skills and Competencies

  • Expert-level Microsoft Excel proficiency; candidate should be comfortable working with complex formulas used for multiple-criteria lookups, date manipulation, and data cleaning.

  • Ability to learn to configure accounting/finance software tools to achieve desired business outcomes through exploration, trial & error, and correspondence/meetings with software consultants. The Senior Financial Analyst will be part of a team implementing new software solutions.

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize, shifting between projects as directed by management.
