Cannon Design Senior Communications Specialist - FOS in Buffalo, New York

We're looking for a Senior Communications Specialist for Facilities Optimization Solutions (FOS), a business entity within CannonDesign, a multifaceted design solutions firm. You'll plan and execute marketing campaigns promote FOS products and services externally as well as across the firm. As part of your marketing and communications expertise, you'll exhibit strategic and creative thinking that elevates the visibility of FOS in the marketplace and contributes to achieving its goals for business growth. You'll work with cross-functional teams within FOS and across CannonDesign-and very closely with the Head of Marketing & Sales and CannonDesign's Communications Director. In addition to being a key member of our FOS team, you'll also be part of Brand, Marketing and Business Development (BMBD), a diverse and talented team of marketers, communicators, business developers, researchers, digital experts, strategists and graphic designers - offering ongoing connectivity to myriad resources, plus opportunities to collaborate with like-minded professionals for the benefit of FOS.

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL DO
I. Marketing communications - strategy through development and execution
  • Work with the leadership team to create and develop content strategies that can be adapted for multiple platforms (digital and print) and span three focus areas:
    • Lead generation
    • Brand/value proposition
    • Initiative-based (key themes or topics)
  • Develop a deep knowledge of our business, the markets we serve, our competition and emerging trends to identify and leverage insights that inform our messages internally and externally.
  • Collaborate with our sales team to conduct research that uncovers potential targeting opportunities and corresponding messaging.
  • In all cases, work closely with the Head of Sales & Marketing for FOS and CannonDesign's Communications Director to develop thought-provoking, compelling content.
II. Media relations
  • Develop and nurture relationships with media outlets.
  • Be an effective storyteller and "storymaker." Track and monitor activities to maximize storytelling opportunities about our people, projects and initiatives, and craft pitches to get the media's attention.
III. Reporting and analytics oversight
  • In partnership with our Senior Digital Communications Specialist, deliver and analyze marketing campaign reports to debrief on results, and identify strengths and areas for improvement.
  • This includes reports on marketing activities and results for communicating to Senior Management.
IV. Brand stewardship
  • In partnership with our Creative Director and Communications Director, develop an intimate understanding of the relationship between the CannonDesign and FOS brands, and serve as steward of the FOS voice and visual identity. Ensure that FOS is represented appropriately in all aspects of internal and external marketing and communications.
V. Digital assets and tools oversight
  • In partnership with our Senior Digital Communications Specialist, oversee the FOS website and its performance - site traffic, search results, visitor behavior and more, leveraging established benchmarks and tools like Google Analytics to assess results and identify actionable insights.
  • This includes planning content updates, website reconfigurations and technical support, plus engagement with third parties for more complex website development needs.
Other marketing activities
  • Plan and manage our marketing/communications budget, ensuring effective allocation of funds to drive impactful campaigns and initiatives.
  • Partner with our Creative Director, Communications Director and Senior Digital Communications Specialist to plan and execute advertising, and leverage data and analytics to help maximize ROI.
  • Oversee conference event planning, coordination, stakeholder management, on-site execution and post-event evaluation, reporting and activation, with support from Brand, Marketing and Business Development to develop creative assets and deliverables.
  • Provide writing and editing support for marketing pursuits and other promotional marketing needs.
Communications leadership and collaboration
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to marketing and communications team members within FOS.
  • Maintain ongoing connectivity with Brand, Marketing and Business Development as a full-service team for resources, knowledge sharing, and implementing and advancing best practices.
HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, PR or marketing required.
  • 7+ years' experience required.
  • Related industry experience (software, software for AEC industry) a plus.
  • Experience working with a hybrid, geographically dispersed team.
  • Inbound Marketing (Hubspot Academy) and Google Analytics Certification preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Familiarity with HubSpot, CRM software (Salesforce), Google Analytics and Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
  • Experience with SEO, SEM and digital paid efforts preferred.
  • Some travel required.

The salary range for this position to be filled in the Buffalo, NY office is $69,453 to $78,066 annually. This salary range is the range we believe is the anticipated range of possible base compensation at the timing of the posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the anticipated salary range for the position. Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
