Position Summary:

The Department of Microbiology and Immunology (https://medicine.buffalo.edu/departments/micro.html) is seeking a Research Technician I. Under close supervision of the Principal Investigator, conducts a variety of routine experiments following established procedures and protocols, which may include performing strain generation, strain phenotyping and downstream molecular and biochemical assays to include qRT- PCR , RIP , and ChIP. The Technician will also record test results, analyze data using basic statistics and existing bioinformatic pipelines as well participation in laboratory maintenance, inventory and safety/regulatory procedures.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting routine experiments following appropriate protocols and procedures.

  • Recording results and maintain accurate records of experiments.

  • Performing data interpretation and assists with basic statistics and analysis and communicate findings with the PI.

  • Assisting others where expertise is needed and performs weekly lab maintenance duties.

  • Maintains lab equipment and orders/keeps inventory of supplies.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Prior education in a scientific field required

  • At least one year of experience directly related to the research or the program

  • Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques and procedures
