The Quality Specialist will support the Product Realization Process, specifically on supporting the plant readiness and timely submission for Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Product Part Approval Process (PPAP) in line with Business and Customer Specific Requirements.

The successful candidate will have prior experience within a manufacturing environment, preferably the Automotive Industry in a similar, quality-focused role, who is capable of working independently and also well within a cross-functional team environment.

Effective communication and reporting skills with necessary problem-solving skills when required; data-driven direction to continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the evaluation of Customer Specific Requirements and ensuring they are communicated to relevant teams

  • Coordination and vetting of supplier PPAP documentation

  • Creation of PPAP files and controlling correct revisions

  • Checking Master and Sample parts

  • Application of appropriate Measurement System Analysis methods in line with the latest AIAG edition

  • Basic Variable Range, ANOVA, Bias, Linearity, Control Charts, and use of Minitab

  • Review, analysis and response to SPC trends

  • Prepare packaging specifications for new parts

  • Checking and validating Production tooling

  • Working within the Corrective Action process, including root cause analysis, actions taken, lessons learned, and validating the effectiveness of actions taken

  • Collecting data to analyze trends and drive evidence-based continuous improvement

  • Supporting Quality and Operations processes with day to day issues

  • Responsible for on-time and in-full PPAP submissions

  • Must comply with all Federal, State, Local and Company rules and regulations on Health, Safety and Environmental issues.

  • Responsible for maintaining Alkegen's highest level of safety standards on site including identifying and correcting unsafe conditions and unsafe acts.

  • Will embody Alkegen's core safety principles including but not limited to The Seven Safety Absolutes, use of PPE, and Safe Standards of Work at all times.

  • Will champion safety in the workplace each day.

    Qualifications/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • A minimum of 2 years working in a manufacturing setting.

  • Strong background in Quality in a manufacturing environment

  • Experience in the automotive industry with an understanding of industry standards, such as IATF 16949

  • Demonstrable understanding of quality tools: Process Capability, Root Cause Analysis, 8D, PFMEA, MSA, Control Plans, SPC

  • Strong computer skills in applications such as Lotus Notes, Microsoft Office Suite, Minitab

  • Understanding of control of change protocols

  • Understanding of document control procedures and processes

  • Understanding of and experience with various gauges, measuring and testing equipment

  • Knowledge of calibration requirements and record keeping

  • Interpersonal skills include being an organized worker who is self-motivated and capable of time management and delivering objectives under deadlines

  • Team player: capable of working cross-functionally to determine practical solutions to Process and Product related issues

Compensation

  • $58,000/yr - $65,000/yr DoE
