Production Worker
Job Description:
VIA Visually Impaired Advancement is seeking a Production Worker to work approximately 30 hours per week. Reporting to the Production and Distribution Manager, the Production Worker is responsible for performing tasks involved in the direct labor of production, storage, and distribution of materials/products.
Essential Functions:
Cuts, folds, clips, hooks or otherwise assembles materials to produce sub-assemblies or finished products from raw materials
Utilize hand operated tools/equipment/machines to complete production/assembly of finished products (e.g. basic hand tools.)
Operation of machinery (e.g. sewing machine, fabric cutter, or filling equipment)
Perform basic testing and quality checks on assembled products prior to packaging
Label and pack finished goods into correct packages and boxes
Place finished goods on designated pallets or area and prepare for shipping
Follow appropriate notification procedures
Assist with storage and inventory of goods and raw materials in the warehouse
Competencies:
Must be able and comfortable in utilizing tools/equipment (e.g. basic hand tools)
Must be comfortable working with a diverse population
Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
Strong organizational skills, flexible, detail oriented and ability to retain information
Ability to work independently and as member of a team
Demonstrate active listening
Work in an environment where priorities frequently change
Succeed in completion of duties when unsupervised
Demonstrate basic counting
Demonstrate good and ethical judgment in performing position duties
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalency preferred
Experience working in manufacturing/line production/machine operation preferred
Ability to provide documentation of legal blindness preferred
Compensation:
$15.50 per hour
