Summary:

With a clear understanding and focus on Kee Safety's strategic aims for providing technical support to the group business units, support the Technical Manager as required on other technical and quality matters, assist with the New Product Development Program to meet Kee Safety Group requirements. This position will be supporting internal business unit requests as the primary function and supporting other technical requests from the Technical Manager as needed.

Job Duties:

  • Support the Business Units with technical advice/expertise relating to Kee Safety Group products
  • Suggest changes/optimize existing technical issues with Kee Products
  • Prepare technical reports on issues faced and send to the engineering department
  • Support the Operations Manager and Technical Manager along with assistance from the Product Managers on any product testing as a result of legislation/standards changes which have an effect on Kee Safety Group products
  • Coordinate all incoming requests from customers, prospects and internal customers that require detailing
  • Support the Operations Department with technical related requests as needed
  • Prepare technical solutions for incoming requests
  • Prepare standard documents containing calculations (for commonly sold products)
  • Work on different product drawings using AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor - 3D solid works and prepare BOM for complicated assemblies
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of the parts catalogues and operation instruction manuals for the assigned products
  • Support the Technical Manager in maintaining external approvals of Kee Safety Group products through any testing or auditing that is required
  • Support the Technical Manager with customers and external sales and other technical matters
  • Provide alternate solutions to customers in case any product installation issues on site
  • Provide training to salespeople and technicians regarding different product knowledge and installations
  • Become proficient with OSHA, IBC and Canadian OH&S standards and make sure product installation drawings sent to customers are safe and in compliance.
  • Visit site and consult the customer engineers in case of complicated projects
Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Structural/Mechanical/Production Engineering, Masters a plus
  • Highly proficient in current 2D & 3D Solid Modelling in Solid works CAD Software along with knowledge of FEA
  • Numerate and analytical skills, high attention to detail
  • Knowledge in scaffolding and guard railing with an understanding of pipe/tube calculations for bending theory, to comply with latest standards a plus
  • Ability to travel to work sites as needed
  • 3-5 years of prior technical engineer experience is preferred

  • Testing products which would occasionally require some lifting up to 50lb typical
  • A combination of occasional, walking, sitting, bending, climbing ladders when testing in the shop floor or on a customer site visit
  • The employee may be required to visit jobsites where adherence to all safety regulations (wear appropriate PPE, etc.) is required

Salary Description
$75,000-$85,000
