Summary:

Provides management and leadership of the activities of Sterile Processing at Sisters of Charity Hospital (SOCH) related to sterile supplies and instruments. Ensures required procedures are in order to for the protection from disease and infection. Supports the hospital departments by providing needed supplies, equipment and instruments for use in respective departments. Participates in system sterilization standards, practices, policy development and implementation. Collaborates between Sisters Hospital Campuses as well as within Catholic Health.

Responsibilities:

EDUCATION

  • Associates degree and two (2) years management experience in sterile processing quality assurance, surgical implementation, and surgical case cart preparation required

  • In Lieu of Degree, high school diploma and five (5) years management experience with at least 2 years in sterile processing quality assurance, surgical implementation, surgical case cart preparation, and inventory control required

  • Certified Sterile Processing required

  • Certification in Operating Room Technology desired

  • Certified Sterile Processing Supervisor desired

EXPERIENCE

  • Previous knowledge of Sterilization Quality Assurance required

  • Previous knowledge of JCAHO, NYDOH and OSHA regulations pertaining to Sterile Processing required

  • Knowledge of Sterile Processing equipment operation required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, Registrar and Outlook

  • Knowledge of EPIC EMR desired

  • Knowledge of Lawson ordering system desired

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Strong verbal and written communication and organization skills

  • Knowledge of health care functions, operations and related support systems

  • Demonstrate ability in facilitating group processes

  • Ability to read and interpret sterilizer graph and computer print-outs

  • Ability to teach and train new and existing technicians required

  • Driver's license required

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Travel between facilities as required

  • May be required to work additional hours or shifts to maintain departmental quality

  • Lifting and standing for long periods of time may be required
